I had a beautiful little japanese spyderco knife that was given to me for my birthday 7 years ago, then, i had it in my pocket at the airport and i didn't have time to get it to a mailer.... ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!. so, i gave it up with a little tear. after perusing the spyderco site, i decided to replace it with a Spyker. i've read the threads, "hate the billboard" etc etc. but it really seems to have the best of kershaw/spyderco features, and the s30v steel in seattle seems a no-brainer type decision, and i need an EDC for work on my place. i wasn't sure about it at $260, but at $150... i mean... well, what do you think guys, did i blow it or hit the home run?

Well, it all depends of what you like. It is a vague answer but true. I had one and while I thought it was a nice knife, I eventually traded for something else.

One thing I say is, the blade is no gimmick. I thought it was because of all the strange lines but it really works well. I am into full flat grinds and thinner blades so it was a little beefy for me.

That being said, it is a well repected knife that seems to have "legs". I think it will be around for a while. From what I gather, it has a steady following. Most knives seem to make a big splash and then fizzle out rather quickly. The best seem to last.

I agree with kgriggs. If you're right handed, have no strong prejudice against liner locks, like fairly large folders, recurve blades, Ken Onion designs, and can live with the "billboard" blade engraving and those twill CF arcs in the handle, then you certainly hit a homer. The Spyker is a very well built, extremely smooth knife with excellent fit and finish, and allows you to have the otherwise unavailable combination of Ken Onion styling with a round hole opener.

I like my Spyker. Great looking (except the billboard), fit and finish typical of both contributors, light, strong. Not frequently carried, but well worth $150 to me.

I reckon you did well. But at only 3000 pieces worldwide, mine is a collectable, not a user. Consider getting a Mini Manix, ParaMilitary or Waved Delica/Endura as a beater.

You did all right, buy it, use it, and you can always have someone "buff" out the billboard.
Enjoy that new knife!!
