Thank you RGRAY I am a true knife nut, I admit I do more lurking than inputting (I don't know if that is a word or not!) I appreciate the invitation to participate in the discussions, I am constantly in the learning mode when it come to knives and have picked up a lot of valuable information in the Forums. Thanks again, Mitch

Lurked for a while, learned quite a bit and then got bold enough to interact.
Loving every minute of it now.

Don't know if I am considered a lurker or not.

I try to limit my posts to questions that I don't see covered (Very Rare), Areas I have some experience with (Rare when I consider others experience), or areas I have an opinion on (Not Rare enough).

Since I've only posted about 5 times, I'm probably still considered a lurker. I just started out looking on the internet for one simple knife, now I'm hooked and want to buy more knives than I could probably use in a life time.

Seahawk your not alone. I only wanted one automatic to play with. That seems like a long time and many knives ago.

Thanks for the greeting Mike and forumites. I've been absorbing info from this great resource for a month or so. It's grrreat!

Hello all, I havent posted in along time. I pretty much read the topics and responses. I will be more participating.

Well...I'm a semi-lurker (I've only posted a few times) and now is as good as a time as any to take a few more steps out of the closet. To that end I have posted a query to this forum for advice on machete sharpening. All the best, Alan

C'mon, post something!

Why register and not post? You can lurk and read without registering, but you have to post in order to win the monthly free knife!

This place is info-packed and very friendly and that's all due to the members who post!

A forum is defined by its participating members.

Hey Mike, who has the most posts? And is that member the de facto Poster Child for Bladeforums?

Hi All,

I have been lurking for a month or so now. It started out when I was doing some research to find a replacement for a Gerber EZ-out. The knife has served me well, but I wanted something new. Like I have to explain that to anyone hereJ.

Following the threads here on BF has rendered a lot of information, eyestrain, laughs and, sometimes, even more questions. I have learned quite a bit. THANK YOU!

I finally chose the REKAT Pioneer II, clip point, regular blade. I was able to try BM Axis, but became skeptical when the locking bar pinched against the frame while unlocking. I believe a senior member addressed this issue at some point. PII v. Axis showdown anyone?

When it came time to purchase, again BF came through with good advice. I got in touch with Brian at Discount Knives. We talked about knives, and the forum. He is a great guy who reflects the attitude I have come to know here on BF.

Thank you all again. I look forward to future BF interactions.

Regards,

Mario

i lurk, and learn.

now i'm getting the courage to post, hoping i learned well.

even tho i own multiple Sharp Thangs, i still consider myself a newbie, so not sure how much i have to contribute beyond semi-formed opinions and the occasional dry humour.

i realized i was a knifeknut when i looked at my kitchen knives with disgust one day and then pulled out my mini socom to cut a cucumber and other salad veggies. my dinner guest looked on with horror and accused me of being a closet gang member. Enter "Knife As Tool 101" lesson, citing Jim Mattis and a few other forumites.

i realized i had to start posting when i would walk around composing replies to y'all in my head :P

silverwing, with thanks for the welcome

I have been here since May I believe it was.I have learned muh more than I have been able to give back.
In the years I have been reading Blade © I have sen many references to the comaraderie and friendliness of the makers and knife people in general. It is evident here that all I have read is true.
I like that very much and I am proud to be associated with the kind of people that are here.

Yeah, every once in a while there may be a little flare up and that's also why I like the moderated forums.I had much rather read about knives than be surrounded by a nasty flame war!!

Then even the ones that may be a little testy at the beginning learn that they are among friends and settle down then we all become better people because of these forums.
It's too bad the whoe dayum-ed world couldn't learn a lesson from all of this. Then we could arry the biggest meanest bad-est knife we wanted to Anywhere we wanted too.

There's my usual short post.

Hi, I tried to enroll but was told by the computer that there was already someone registered with that e-mail address. Was not planning on being a regular poster but as there was an invitation to say "Hello" thought I would. From time to time I read some of the threads and find them interesting, it seems that you fellows have a good thing going here for information as well as some playfulnes which there is too little of these days. If there are regular female posters forgive me for seeming to exclude you, the names appear to be male for anything I have been following. Thanks again for the invite to drop in and say "Hi".
Best regards, Carol Tichbourne

Hi everybody. I'm a recovering lurkerholic and a dedicated knifeaholic. I first came upon this site during my search for a better blade. Something light and strong with good edge retention and cutting abilities. I think I've found it in Talonite, but haven't decided on a maker and haven't collected enough frogskins to do a trade anyway.

This site, and the other one just like it, is filled with information. At first I felt unworthy to post. What could I possibly add to this vast store of knowledge? Now, with a few more knives on my belt, and a little wiser from reading past threads, I've started to make a few posts here and there.

I just wish I had discovered this world of knife making a little earlier. Then I would have chosen the course on metallurgy instead of instrumentation engineering at uni.

Hello everybody, my name is Jason and i am a knife-a-holic. I have been lurking for quite some time now as I have yet to come up with a question that hasn't already been asked. I am currently working on my first knife and you guys have been a big help. Thanks forumites!

Well, I would like to start off by thanking Mike for providing us with a place to discuss matters close to our hearts.

I've been lurking here in the background a long time. I've watched as BladeForums changed and grew over time. In my opinion, BladeForums provides me with more useful information than any of the knife rags that are published today. I look forward to the online version.

I want to apologize for remaining in the background for so long. I have received many useful tips and read many informative reviews. I only hope that I will be able to add a productive and useful presence to the forums.

Thanks again,

Rob

You're right it's time to decloak and say Hi! I spoke with Newt Livesay a few weeks ago and he turned me on to BF, what a great site you guys have. I really like all the info, comments and humor. It's nice to know they're others out there like me, now my wife is REALLY worried. I check BF just about every day and will start sharing my likes, dislikes and ideas in the future. The knife contests are cool!

Ive got a friend of mine (you know who you are!) who has a real love for knives and I always kid him about being a lurker because he has only posted 4-5 times in a year, yet he probably visits here everyday.

So come on now post! Don't make me rat you out...you know I'll do it !!
