OK, now for some old Jacks

It must be true that they don't make em like they used to.

Naturally, look at this gathering of reprobates. With few exceptions, they don't make em like us anymore. ;) Y'all can decide if that's good or bad. :D

I've had this one since I was 7. Still closes with a nice snap and takes a nice edge. I still carry once in a while.

Here are a few to add to the heap! (Plain brown backing of course!)
L to R, Case U.S.A, an old German Boker, Syracuse Knife Company with the candle end bolster, a Remington, and a Schrade Cut. Co. English Jack.

So I guess the English Jack is to the jack knife what the Daddy/Grandaddy Barlow is to the barlow.

Those old knives just have class don't they.

Here's an old case I found in my uncles tool chest 30 some years ago.

He said I could have it since I didn't want to put it down!

Here's another with the same knife and one that belonged to my Grandpa. He passed away in the late 70's, Grandma had it till she passed away, then Dad had it. Now he's gone and I have it. It's a bit rough but I don't care, I think I'll leave it that way as long as there is no corrosion.

I have a few knives put away, that I call my retirement fund. I dug some jacks out and scanned them in here to keep this thread going. It's a great thread guys, but we need a few more before we go on to the next pattern!!! Show us your jack knives!
Don't be shy!

We don't care about age, only beauty! (my wife loves that line!!)
Nice one, Vince! I never collected gunstocks, but I see the attraction!

Sorry for killing the thread. BTW, you all have some fantastic looking knives. I particularly like your S & M Sunburst and the two jacks posted by longbeach.

Naw, you didn't kill it drk. I think jacks just don't have the following that some of the other patterns do. Interesting old jack, btw. I've only started really appreciating jack knives recently and have taken to carrying one as my daily carry.

Besides describing a lot of us here, old and crusty is acceptable when viewing old knives. Sure, mint examples are nice to see, but knives were first and foremost meant to be used. We come across them as they are and are glad when they still snap good and have complete handles. Around here, we like to look at shiny, fancy knives, and rough, old workhorses just the same.

Revolvergeek-I'm not quitensure of the Robeson pattern, but the Cattaragus is the sway-back jack pattern.
