OK - now I'm hooked for sure - my latest toothpick aquisition

Well, Coaltrain... I did say I wanted to possibly add a Queen Toothpick to my collection.... But, nothing I was looking at was really exciting. So, I started looking at Queen's Schatt & Morgan line.... And I found the same model you have (#041111). Well, I really liked yours so much... I ended up ordering one too. This Toothpick is made using ATS34 stainless steel and it being a S&M are two firsts for me :-) It was your review of it and your photos that really had me desiring one. And even when I looked at others... it was yours I compared them too... and yours just had that awesome look about it! Anyhow, thanks for the inspiration... I will share pics when I get it :-)

Glad I could help! The S&M was my first large toothpick and I was so happy with the build and feel of it. Looking forward to hearing your opinion and seeing pics.

I agree with the current Queen offerings - don't do anything for me either.

I kind of did this to myself also - a couple beautiful Case large toothpicks on the way for me..........

Now you need to get yourself an Opinel Slim No 10. 5" closed, 4" blade. The Opinel version of the toothpick, available in several different types of wood handles. That should be your grail knife, Stan!

Since winning the Opinel GAW a couple weeks ago, I definitely have to have a couple more - I can't seem to put it down. The No 10 slim will sure fit in with my collection.

I don't know, guys... I can't seem to warm up to the Opinel and it's look. As a collector, I look for that something that grabs my attention, as the Laguiole pattern did, and hence my adding a Forge De Laguiole specimen to my collection. But the Opinel... just does nothing to stir my emotions.

Oh, and please don't get me wrong, I am sure that they are great tools.... but their look just does nothing for me! lol! :-)

Way back before I had to sell my collection I favored large toothpicks. I had several, my favorite being a brown picked bone with great steel and marketed by Buck as the "California Toothpick". I've been rebuilding my collection and got side tracked by the incredible quality of GEC products. I don't like "tiny" toothpicks but the #12 falls between the tiny and the large and is very usable! The large blade is a bit unwieldy and illegal some places whereas the 12 is jes' right! My only large is now the China made Marbles I included in the below picture for scale. I'll probably pick up more larges along the way but the #12 is my favorite all time pattern. . . . . . . for now.

I also like what GEC has done with the #12. I find it much better as a user. As you said it is a nice compromise for sure.

I'm glad you found one that you can open well. Its a very beautiful knife.
Thanks for the great pics.
