Unusual looking tortoise s-k! Is the image enhanced, or as taken??

The photo is as taken waynorth. It was cropped. Do you believe it may not be tortise but perhaps man made? I have limited experience with this material. It is just that it did not look like my recent Boker tortise which is obviously not real tortise. One of the main differences between the modern version and this was a lack of the red halos. Also the colours on this handle tend to be quite responsive to changes in the light. This one did have the light from the window shinning in from the top which tended to illuminate the colour perhaps a little more than normal. It looks similar to the right side of this one I posted earlier.

It has a Polish/Russian name on the blade, I think it has forged blades, this thing takes a wicked edge and keeps it forever.

I was told it was from the 1800's based on the earpick that's in the handle(silly me, I thought it was a coke spoon). I'll post a better pic after I take one.

The best part was I got it in a box lot at an Estate Sale for $3:D .

Cool knife. It looks similar to some Sheffield made knives from a similar time period. Yes... little scoop for ear wax. That's a great find for the price. Thanks for the details and close-up.

I like the way Bob bevelled in the shield! Can you show us the file work, Greg?
Another nice CC!!!

That's an old photo and doesn't display the knife very well. I need to re-shoot it and hopefully get some better pics for ya.

Not yet fully operational Charlie. I also have managed to get sick so once I get home from work I've been just going to bed. I'll have to move furniture and stuff in a couple of rooms to get at things. Yuck.

Anyway folks, here are a few more go to meetin knives. The first one my wife calls my "Town knife."

This one is my "go West, young man" knife, er set. It's also the pair that hangs on a belt that's looped over the bedpost by my head. It's also included just because I like the way the scan came out. ;)

Some darn good lookin fire you guys are showing! Nice to see some old favorites in with the unseen stuff.

How about some "Sea Snail" inlaid in the little C. Gray Taylor Lobster pattern. Alot of color here and hard to photograph.

I might go to a knife collectors Hell for this but I can't help myself. Then there is a certain South Texas knife maker that just might shoot me on sight !!
