Ok, so I have some new knife money..... DDR Gun Hammer or Zero Tolerance 0300?

I had one of his customs with titanium scales; a great folder. I do NOT want aluminum handles. Just my opinion.

Just a FYI on this:

This was an isolated issue from earlier last year. There was a big issue with the QC team letting knives go that should have never made it out. The entire QC team was fired and HTM/DDR has been doing damage control ever since.

They have also moved their entire operation to Texas in the last 6 months. It is my understanding that all of the new knives are up to snuff and anyone getting lemons still in the pipeline have been getting them replaced ASAP.

I would go with the manual Maxx Glide version if I were you. That's what I went for with the special green/s90v GH goup buy.

Good to know. Sorry if I was propagating misinformation. That's probably the last thing the company needs.

Funny, I hadn't realized that DDR was Darrel Ralph. I have an old mtech balisong that I guess was designed by him. The thing is actually pretty decent. 440c steel, 8 phosphor bronze washers and sharp, very sharp. Cut the crap outta myself trying to flip it. :)

Anyway, good looking knives those gun hammers. Glad to hear they are getting everything worked out.

I own the HTM "Gunhammer" (CTS-XHP) and also a ZT 0300 (S30V). I have them both sitting in front of me right now.

Both are very nice knives.

The blade on the "Gunhammer" is scary nice!

If I could only buy one and not the other, it would be the "Gunhammer"

I have an M390 Gunhammer and a ZT 0200. I personally prefer the Gunhammer because it fits my medium-ish hands very well and I prefer the blade/overall shape just a little bit compared to the 0200 or other ZTs in general. Don't worry about any potential F&F issues. Mine was absolutely perfect in every way, and even if you do get a bad one (very unlikely now), they will take care of you. That said, they are both very, very nice knives and either one will serve you well. It really just comes down to your personal preference.

I didn't know they had an M390 Gun Hammer. Interesting.... I'm leaning towards the Gun Hammer mainly because of blade shape (handle shape too). I do like the sturdiness of the ZT though.

KVT bearings or IkbS and Teflon. What does the maxx glide consist of? I'm close to buying. Just those scales seem ugly! Maybe wait for the new G-10 scales later this year!

Ah. Gotcha. I was trying to figure out what KR meant. Acronyms that few people know irk me to no end.

The only KVT knife I handled was at Bladeshow 2011 (Kershaw Tilt IIRC). From what I recall, I noticed no difference in how smooth they felt. Maxx Glide is a shielded thrust bearing system, which seems to be the norm these days. Shielded bearings mean that they won't fly out at you if you were to open the knife up. Those scales grow on folks. I used to think they were ugly too, as did my friend that I recommended the m390 Gunny to.

I don't own any knives currently, but have owned quite a few HTM Gunhammers in the past. I also commissioned a custom DDR Gunhammer about 2 years ago, speaking of which, I have to ask Darrel about.

The one I got was an M390 bowie blade, which was a dealer exclusive from Knifecenter for $235 shipped about four months ago. What a steal; I'm so happy I jumped on that.

Right now they have M390/Torpedo shape Gunhammers, but sadly none left with the shape/steel combination I have. There's new ones in every combination with CTS-XHP, but the price has sadly gone up. :(

Looks like a higher price point. :)

GPknives and BladeHQ had the XHP sprint run in december at the $200 point, which is when I got mine. I think you've seen my video on youtube so you already know my thoughts. The Gunhammer really is superb, and it's only getting better. Between the G10 model and the two new blade shapes on the horizion, it's gonna be tough not buying another one :)

Awesome. Yeah I need to finish your other vid. Why did the price skyrocket? If you see any around for that range let me know. Is the G-10 pattern staying the same?

Knifecenter has been selling their M390 sprint at $325 after the first run of 30 sold out, I guess they're hoping people will be tempted by the exclusivity. The price jump on the regular models is probably from some sort of MAAP price agreement (sort of like Benchmade, can't advertise them openly at the lower price). I would wait until the next sprint run happens, they seem to be happening quite a bit now. There's not a lot of information about the G10 models - stay active on the HTM subforum because that's where the information will be released. So far Darrell hasn't chimed in so the details are mum.

Do you have the manual max glide? How good Or smooth is it? Comparable or better than?? Thanks
Nope. Mine is assisted. And if you don't grip it tightly enough, the whole knife will launch itself right out of your hand when you deploy the blade. Or to put it another way, it kicks like a mule! I'd say the HTM Gunhammer sets the standard when it comes to powerful assisted-openers.

Pop into the HTM forum. I've done a few reviews of the Gunny (it's my favorite folder, period), and compared to the ZT 0350. I currently own 4, and have a fifth on order. You can also probably find my EDC review, where I did a side by side comparison between the ZT 350, HTM Gunhammer radian, BM Ritter Grip, Spyderco Manix 2 in S30V, and the odd one out, the Ka-bar Phat Bob.

The Gunny is plenty sturdy for any knife purposes. I wouldn't hesitate to trust my life to it. I personally didn't like the ZT. I've got a 560 that I'll probably keep, but I have a bunch of problems with that one as well.
