I posted this in the M,T&E section and, after 65 views, no one has had any pointers. Since I usually get great advice here, I figured I'd take a shot. I am posting the text and the hyperlink.

Ok...I have an old Ka-Bar fighter that I cannot find an exact pic of anywhere on the wonderful world wide web. It has a about a 5.5" blade with blood groove. Looks very similar to this knife.

The problems are as follows:

1. Blade finish is shot. Not my primary concern, but I want to know the cost to fix it. This is probably something I would not worry about initially.

2. The edge is gone. This knife has been hit with a grinder and it has a really rough edge to it now. I cannot rescue it.

3. The leather rings were mostly rotted off apparently and the grip is now covered in elecrical tape. I would like to have the leather replaced.

4. Needs a sheath. Preferably something with a handy lil pocket for a steel and stone. Preferably a leather or kydex sheath that gives me the possibility to carry in multiple ways. Belt, backpack strap, etc.

Anyone know who can do this? Preferably in the Austin, TX area. Maybe a member floating around here. I am willing to pay as long as my costs do not exceed the estimated value of the blade. I will try to post a pic tomorrow. Basically, this has been a great little blade that I found in the garage when my great-uncle died. I want to restore it and have it as a keepsake. Any help is greatly appreciated. I just don't have the facilities or time to do this as a college student.

Give the MT&E guys a bit of time. Traffic isn't usually as heavy over there and the right person just probably hasn't wandered through yet. I can recommend Eric at On Scene Tactical for the sheath if you decide to go with kydex. He does great work. He's in Canada, but he probably has a Ka Bar of his own that he can use to mold the sheath so you won't have to send yours to him. He goes by Normark here on the forums. He hasn't been around a whole lot lately though.
