OK to use a die grinder to reshape an already heat treated blade?

I'm considering adapting a large butcher knife into a folder, and don't want to hack saw the blade. I'm worried about heat - if I frequently dip the knife can I avoid heat damage?

As long as you keep the knife cool you should be fine...just remember to take your time and cool the blade frequently.

Dunk often, and use fresh, sharp abrasive. If it changes color (beyond a straw color) you've lost the temper.
