WoooooWeeeee!
Mom had knifecenter deliver the Case mini-lockback to me. I love it. Its a lot cleaner than it looks in the photo. These were shot with my cell phone so thats why they look kinda crappy.
The ZT200 was a gift from my two step-grandmothers. A little unexpected christmas cash turned into a very nice knife for Brian.
Really like them both. The Case is a nice, classy knife that will be carried on dates and for more nice/casual occasions. The lockup on it is tight and there is no blade play. Fit and finish are clean, as expected from Case. Just not perfect enough to tell it is hand made. /tu>
It is a little small for any sort of heavy/extended use. I tried doing a little whittling with it and it did fair, I prefer a little more substance in my hand. Having a larger handle to is more comfortable and allows for more grips. The blade is ground thin and does cut very well.
In the box came a paper which explained how it was hones at 10-15 degrees and was super sharp. Well.... I guess Case and I have different expectations of what sharp is. It would not shave hair when I got it. A quick touch up on the sandpaper and strop changed all of that.
This is not a "hard-use" knife, nor was it designed to be. It will be carries and used appropriately.
The ZT just bumped the BM755 out of EDC place. Its beefy.....heavy....mean looking.... and I love it. I'm really glad I was able to find a non-assisted ZT, I've been eyeing them for a while but don't really go for assisted openers.... so the model 200 is perfect for me. It had a 4" blade so most people wouldn't want to carry a knife list large every day.... be we here at BF aren't most people!
Came hair popping sharp!
The lockup is super solid. This guy has THICK liners and the liner lock leaves no doubt that it will preform. There is no blade play but if some develops the pivot is adjustable with a regular wrench or pliers. Don't need to go buy a torque set for this one.
When closed the blade is centered perfectly, something that seems to be lacking in many of the other big knife companies. Now, I don't feel the blade has to be perfectly centered, as long as it doesnt' rub the liners I'm happy. But I'm very happy when it is centered properly.
The pocket clip is adjustable for either right or left hand carry. And also allows for tip up or tip down carry. I like having the choice.
The handles are heavily textured but don't seem to be absurd like some of the texturing is and is very comfortable. I don't expect to get and hot spots under heavy use.
Overall..... a very sharp holiday season for Brian. F yeah!
