Any knife makers in the Tonasket, WA area?

I'm moving over there next month and would love to meet up with some of the makers in the area. I'll be staying there until the University of Washington starts up again in late September.

I'm bringing over all my equipment. I'll be making knives and blacksmithing full time so I can peddle my wares at the local markets and rodeos.

I'll be on 50 acres up on Havilla road. I'm always looking for someone to hunt for coyotes with in the evenings. Give me a buzz and we'll crank up the predator call and see what comes in. Almost got one with my bow when I was turkey hunting yesterday.

See ya,
Brook :)

Seriously?... Tonasket? I was born there... so was my mom... and I believe both my grandparents were born very near there. I went to school there until the end of my freshman year... then moved up to Republic (where I graduated). Currently my parents live in Omak. Grandparents still live in Tonasket. My wife's family if from Oroville. You're movin' to my roots. :D

When I was a kid we had a pet wolf (well, 3/4 wolf - 1/4 husky). There was a family up near Havilla that bred them.

Now to answer your question... nope, don't know any knifemakers there.

You have family up there... or just trying to get away from it all?

I'd love to go back, but my wife loves civilization too much... :(

My mom has a large piece of land about 6 miles up Havilla road. And I need to get away from the people of the west side. I could use a few months of relaxing with family and working in the shop.

I believe we spoke before, I grew up in Oroville, and will be moving back to the Tonasket area in about two months. We (my wife and I) will be up on Cobey Creek, above Aeneas Valley, but when we go to town we go to Tonasket. Republic once in a blue moon. Let me know when you get there, I might already be there as well. As for other makers, the only ones I know of are a guy named Jack Seggie who does stock removal out of town a little bit, (who I never met but whose business card I have, should you want the number) and a guy named Robert Brothers who makes damascus and knives in Colville. There are a couple makers in Wenatchee listed in Knives Illustrated, and that is about all. Bob Raymer of Bob Raymer's Machine Works in Tonasket is a great guy, he is also a blacksmith and has a forge, Little Giant, etc. right there in his shop on S. Whitcomb Ave. Be sure to stop in and meet him.

Looking forward to meeting you in God's Country, the Sunny Okanogan.

P.S. Hypocrite, how old are you guys? I wonder if I know any of the same people your wife knows from Oroville... for instance, does she know the Mathises?

I'll look you up when I get there. I should role into town no later than the third week of June. Thanks for all the info!

I'm 33... my wife is 28. Her dad used to be the only Doctor in town... Dr. Steven Lamb. Her grandparent and several aunts/uncles still live there... mostly having the last name Williams.

Oroville is a small place... she probably knows the Mathises, but I'll check.

Holy Lord, I went to school with your wife's brother, David Lamb. Is your wife's name Angela? My mom went to their church. I'm 26. Oh, and I doubt the Mathises were her type. I only mentioned them as they were fairly "high visibility." Big ole' redneck clan.

Angie is my wife and mother of my kids. Dave and Josh are my brothers (in-law). They're now down in LA doing the film-maker thing. Their dad (my father-in-law Steve) is a Colonel in the Air-Force... currently stationed in Georgia.

Angie said she recognized the Mathis name, but did not know any of them personally.
