Okay. I give. I bought a Peanut.

A while back I found my father's pocket knife, a Schrade 108OT Old Timer. My dad died almost 50 years ago and his knife had been misplaced since that time. I remember him using it for virtually all cutting chores but my memory failed as to what knife it was. I guess when kids grow up they remember things being larger than they actually were. The 108OT has a closed length of only 2 7/8". It seemed bigger to me.

Anyway, I've read the positive posts about the Peanut but it always seemed a bit on the small side to me. But fiddling around with my dad's old knife got me to thinking about how a small knife worked so well for him and how it might work for me as well. So earlier this month, I bought a couple of smaller knives. I found I kind of liked them, especially the two-blade Case Medium Jack. Then I took the plunge and bought the lowest priced Case Peanut I could find--a jigged brown synthetic, "as ground" stainless model. I just got it yesterday and I've been playing around with it since then. But I also had a flare up of arthritis in joint at the base of my right thumb yesterday that makes it hard to manipulate objects, especially small objects. Unfortunately that means I'm kind of limited in my ability to appreciate the Peanut right now.

I can see the appeal of the Peanut. Since I almost always carry a medium to large modern folder along with a traditional, carrying a smaller slipjoint makes sense. Now, if my joints will cooperate, I might warm up to the little 'Nut quite a bit. I can certainly see a place for it in my standard rotation.

I too only just took the plunge on an as-ground stainless peanut in stag, they are a great little cutter to be sure I don't think this one'll leave my pocket for a while (least til I get one in CV or Damascus!) hope your hands feel better soon mate!

Hope your RA 'calms down' again soon Lee, and that you're able to appreciate your new Nut

Try not to let the small pen blade on the Peanut get to you. I have a hard time sometimes opening that little blade myself and rarely use it anyway. I think I saw someone on here add a custom EO feature on one of their Peanuts and it looked great. That would be nice if Case built a special line of EO Peanuts, preferably in Carbon. Check out some of GEC's EO's. They look nice.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one that fell into that trap!
:D

My old man and his peanut was the inspiration for me to get into the small knife. Now, I'm in the same boat with you, my arthritis is making it hard for me to use the small knife. I may try the mini copperhead or the baby butter bean yet.

Welcome to the fold Lee. I am sorry to hear that your RA is keeping you away from such a great little knife. I hope that you feel better soon.

Dan, Grand High Muckba in training.

Thanks to all for the warm wishes. Just to clarify, I don't have rheumatoid arthritis, it's simple osteoarthritis--the old fart disease. Had it for years but only lately has it started limiting any function. Can't mean I'm getting old, can it? The little 'Nut is a mite tiny for me to manipulate well right now due to my painful right thumb--you don't realize how much you need a thumb to function until you don't have one that works properly. After a few days of popping ibuprofen, things should improve and I'll play with the new Peanut a little more seriously.

I know what u mean Lee. Everyone around me is getting older and I can't figure out what's wrong with them! lol

Ahhh, picture.

I see the seductive beauty. Now I "need" one too.

(My case tiny trapper is too small - this looks like it could be my new workplace knife)

Yellow Delrin CV please!

I recently gave in as well, and mine should arrive tomorrow. Exactly the same as the above one. Had to get the yella one :)

^^^^ Congrats CC! The yella Peanut is practically an Icon. Stop over and apply for admission to the Cult. Dan will bless your Peanut and bring you into the Fold :)

That thread was one of the reasons I made the purchase :)

UPS should be throwing it at my front door some time tomorrow... Hopefully before we head out of town, or my neighbor will be hanging onto the box until we get back.
