OKAY..make me a NECK KNIFE KNUT!

I like the Talonite stuff by Allen Blade and Tom Mayo. The BG-42 Pup by Running Dog is great! But I have been packing Talonite... Tom Mayo did a great talonite neck knife for me and as soon as I get the knife back from Allen Blade (who does the best kydex I have handled) I will post a pic.

Mark,

If you go to My pictures -> Neck knives - you might find some interesting pictures. I would recommend Little Camper over the Little Pup. The size is about the same but the cord wrap on LC is really good option.

You might also check Gary Bradburn http://www.toptexknives.com/bradburn.htm I am sure he will be happy to make you knife according to your specifications for VERY reasonable $$$.

Mark, since you've indicated you're swamped with suggestions already I won't make you crazy by adding more suggestions. But I do want to chime in about Dr. Lathe. Neil made a neck knife for me recently and I posted a brief description of it about a month ago. It's a beautiful piece of work that came with two sheaths, one for neck and one for ordinary carry. Mine is talonite and it's absolutely amazing. It might be a little heavy for some to carry around the neck, but I understand that Mr. Blackwood will make up a similar one in a lighter metal. Check it out.
If you are set on an Americanized tanto shape, the Gerber Nealy is pretty. If you want a special treat, look at the real, custom Nealy's. Probably the most versatile sheath system around and superb flat, light knives.

Cliff, I think the LaGriffe's are being sold through Laci Szabo, who does have a website now. I'll be damned if I can remember it, but I did see it. I shot an email to the contact and I never got a response, go figure. For utility use, I would stay away from the LaGriffe design that Emerson has, but Fred makes them in a bunch of different configurations, all of which look pretty darn awesome to me! He does use 1075 and 1095, maybe even 1084, though, so get ready to fight rust. It's probably worth the fight!

FWIW,

I own several of Fred Perrin's neck knives in a variety of carbon steels and carry them in a marine environment. None have rusted as long as treated with Marine Tuf-Cloth. And these are worn next to my bare skin in hot weather.

Just goes to show you that a little bit of care goes a long way and that even carbon steels work well for neck knives.

Chris makes great neck knives. I have two in D2 on my photopoint site.

When he was down here visiting with me recently, we talked about some exciting things he'll be doing in the future.

Keep your eyes on Hatin. He's got talent.

Mark,

My vote would go to Running Dog's Wharncliff. With the sheath that it comes with, you can wear it as a neck knife, or set it up as a cross-draw, or even for a strong side draw. Check with Mike, he is great to deal with.

Mark, I picked up a tanto neck knife by Pat Crawford a couple of weeks ago. Under $100 at Knifeart.

This knife is excellent. I almost bought one of his drop points at the Blade show. Great value IMHO. Lots of excellent choices have been mentioned and I'll add the Jones bros.

You almost can't go wrong. Good Luck.

Anyone has Laci Szabos www-site address?
I wanna know the price for his tanto La Griffe.

WOW, sweet knives guys! THANKS for making my decisions here tough ones! Course I asked for it

I was just informed that Darrel Ralph is in the process now of making a neat neck knife out or CPM-420V with a customized multi-carry sheath too! I think I am going to wait a little while now and see what he comes up with. If it is anything like his Apogee Knives are with their quality and style, it may be worth the wait!
