After reading this thread, I was curious to know the actual caffeine content of chocolate. I had always heard it had a lot so I wanted to know how much. Turns out it's not really that much. Dark chocolate has the most at about 30 mg in a 1.5 oz serving ( about an average Hershey bar size). Milk chocolate had about 10 mg in the same amount.
Now just to put this in perspective, a cup of coffee has ~ 130 mg of caffeine...so you would have to eat about 4 bars of dark chocolate to get the same dose of caffeine, 8 bars of milk chocolate. And thats solid chocolate, not stuff in the mild....hmmm.
So in essence, it seems the buzz from candy bars comes from the sugar ( not really suprising) and not from caffeine...unless your are not used to ingesting caffeine...
Just food for thought from a nerdy type.
Now, pork rinds.. are a whole other health issue....
