OKC listens.

Wow, this saddens me greatly.
Ragnar was a great asset to the knife world. And just a great person overall.

I knew he was sick, but had hoped for a recovery.
I made many purchases through him, and he always treated me extremely well.
He will be missed.

Just a wonderful person.

Edited avoid any non-conformity with vendor rules.

Now back to the regulary schedules OKC-Old Hickory Butcher Knife Topic.

Rah-thuh.oops.
I almost talked about changes to the site, but it's a non-member vendor again, so stumm.

On a popular bush craft forum I found a thread from the beginning of the year and it said that his business had been sold to another person, and they are apparently keeping it going. Take that for what it’s worth, but it seems reasonable.

I got an email from the long-time associate of the deceased non-member dealer who has taken up the torch from him.

Maybe time to go back to Ontario and Old Hickory, if the thread isn't hopelessly derailed.

The Old hickory 7" butcher has been a popular knife to modify for outdoors use for a long time ( as butchers have been in the US since the fur trade days ), and now they've decided to release a 5" blade with a leather sheath.
I couldn't find a picture, but it's just called the OLD HICKORY hunting knife.

I just thought it was pretty cool that they're listening , next they can go ahead and just offer the standard 7" butcher with a sheath.

Where did you stumble across this information?
I just searched Old Hickory’s site for “Old Hickory Hubting Knife” and it returned zero results.

Also scanned the OKC Forum here with similar results.

Even googled it. Still no joy.

It would certainly be a cool set up. They make great general purpose camp and field knives.

I have an Old Hickory Slicer that I cut down to 5" and it remains my go to woods romping blade. Cuts well, sharpens easy and if ever it is lost, I am only out a 20 bill.
I first got into them when my Fallkniven F1 disappeared. I thought lost in a ditch but it came up in the trunk of the mother in law's car a couple years later. My wife must have borrowed it to go fishing. Anyways I couldn't afford a replacement but the general store was selling the Old Hickorys. Bought one, cut it down and love it.
Nice to see a knife company responding to the community.
