A short borrowed (thank you S. Douge)video spin done by participant in row "R" and near BCCI (Bruce Dollinger, thick gray hair and beard, visible near end of video) table U11, James Gedlicks displaying table X18 (against wall) and Ivan Bryant X16 (against wall).

To spot Bruce: Sequence for you to follow: 1. Note CASE display on wall. 2. Open door with orange vest fellow. 3. one, two, three tables with displays against wall are going to be Bryant/Gedlick 4. Wearing black BCCI shirt, cell earpiece in left ear, slightly bent at waist, facing down but face visible, soon blocked by bald guy with black shirt guy with back to camera and shirt has something on back of t-shirt in red and he is wearing jeans, here comes stroller and you missed him.

I could see Bruce, but couldn't spot James.

Buy anything? :)

The crowd looked thin to my sore eyes.

I don't know if our good friend James is in the shot or not....

I hope to go tomorrow (Sunday) to meet with, deliver Mr. Bryant his BCCI hat of renown and shake his hand.

I'll make James an offer for his collection but suspect that a hearty handclasp may not be enough... :D

Oregon, I hope you take lots of pictures for all of us to see... ;)

Say Hi to Leroy, James and Bruce for me... Call me if you see

any Bucklites...:eek::eek: I hope you find something nice

for your Collection... :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

:)

ITE good morning!

I will give your best regards to your good friends as you wish.

I have no mobile phone, sad isn't it (no internet at the venue either)... But should I see, and I know what you like because we have similar tastes, I will grab it up.

You send so much Buck love with SPS on Sunday reverend ITE that I bless you.

See you later.

Not one BuckLite in the place ITE.

Bruce, James, Leroy and crew were in fine tune and send their hearty regards.

Here are a few photos from today, Sunday April 10, 2016:

Leroy and his crew. How often must they act to revive those who faint from the fantastic stuff they see before their eyes on the RRR table?

Hobbit, actual metal knife, sheath pictured. I said questionly $2k for the knife and he instantly replied $2.5k.

I asked which of the fixed blades on the table Leroy was most proud of and without hesitation he said the Skinners. Hog's teeth handles p/u while in Atlanta.

The very colorful two rows on the left use Sweet Gum seed pods (I call them spike balls). Leroy found many outside his hotel room in Eugene coincidentally.

Oregon, thanks for these photos. Handsome knives. DM

You are welcome Desert Dave. My pleasure. I am just now getting started. It will take me days to work with the photos I have. I acquired only a few knives for myself. What I saw, the jawboning I did, James Grandpa's knives and the displays James built have knocked me for a loop and set a new standard in respect for ones elders. Let me show you a tad bit.

James G. is a champion in so many ways. His display is stunning, the knives and sheaths are fantastic. Each sheath has a hidden compartment, sealed against the elements, with survival gear hidden inside. Take a gander at his Grandfather's knives (distributed amongst the family and reunited for this display):

Very impressive "Grandpa's Knives" display!:thumbup::thumbup:

He was quite an artisan with the knives and sheaths.

Thanks for posting those oregon.

Enjoyed seeing Leroy's knives and looking forward to more photos.

Thank you kindly Stumps. Stay posted.

James has overwhelmed the usual suspects of knife displays with this spectacular display and the knives/sheaths themselves will lay you out on a slab with their detail and intense build genius. Grandpa is a legend. It is a fact.

James graciously allowed his precious and much loved collection to be viewed by his many Buck fans:

James had a table right next to Bruce/BCCI table. Because of the void left by the Buck James has a spread of Buck knives available to the public on his own. I heard over and over again "where is Buck Knives?" and "where is Joe?" and questions of that sort. Bravo James for your service to the Oregonians abandoned by Buck's usual suspects. You fill the gap with great skill, knowledge and ability. Thank you James.

Bruce Dollinger shines like a diamond at the BCCI table with the knives that you want to see when you come to the show. He was aided by his capable Son this year. My prayers and best wishes go out to Bruce's lovely wife for a quick recovery.

Oregon
Thanks again for taking the time to do this. For those of us unable to attend the pics are inspiring, for me anyway. And only increases the Buck obsession. Looking for more from you.

Thank you for the kind words gsea. I was hoping that you would enjoy the photos. The show, put on by a great many really terrific people is such a profound experience for me. In a word: Fun. Like looking for a needle in a stack of needles if you want to find one knife, for example, it can utterly exhaust you on all fronts. Despite everyone wanting to be helpful and everything laid out in front of you any search can be daunting, ooooooooh yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. The hidden gems. My favorite person from whom to receive religious services but to my complete dismay I've missed for the last decade is Howard Hoskins of Culdesac, Idaho. Clap your eyes on his collection, many pieces signed by and given to him on Howard's kitchen table by his very good friend Chuck Buck (note the stag on the custom little stag folder with the 301 blade, what nice stag, and the finger lopper set displayed on the Buck red/yellow rug is worth $1200 if worth a penny):

A set with a lock in common:

Howard Hoskins will mend your soul, clear your ground, fix you up with a knife and an axe. I snagged a Buck 813 (as new, he had just bot the day before, I gave him $5 over his cost and he only asked for a dollar or two... so not a hard man to do business with) and a Buck 437 Revolver (bright green, Whittaker, these are so cool):

Is there a vintage axe bubble in progress?

The money clip, Buck Knives logo, courtesy of Leroy (and he really should have given me the boot for pestering him so, I owe him and his crew dinner next year) Mr. generosity. I now know that the 1/2 and 1/2 Salesman Sample 110 two dot is "backwards" per Leroy. I had it half way out of its container when he said that it was backwards!. Vern Taylor could order verbally whatever he wanted done, and it would get done as if it had been ordered by Chuck Buck himself, so when Vern wanted a 1/2 and 1/2 done backwards Leroy built one that way. They were usually done with the tang stamp side clear. Mine has the tang stamp side wood/brass and the clear side opposite the tang stamp side.

My number one mission at the meet was to present Mr. Buck Bryant his BCCI hat on behalf of the leadership and the entire membership, in addition to the usual goodie bag many of you know about. I made a bee-line for his table (back right corner) as soon as I arrived only to find him and his display MIA to my puzzlement. I'll mail the handsome hat & gear as soon as I have a mailing address.

I talked with James, Bruce and Leroy who were all grouped in that area where Bryant's display left a blank spot/gap on the floor and wall. There was talk of the horrific collision between Bucks eight day old p/u truck and the FedEx tractor trailer truck, the gap where a display should have been, trouble for our dear and wonderful good friend Dennis Ellingsen (who runs OKCA so very very well) and none of us knew exactly what was going on. Guessing that the accident was recent nobody was able to warn anyone connected to the OKCA event. Had I known that Buck would not attend I would have brought along and offered to put up my own display for Dennis Ellingsen's yea or nea so the show could go on complete. Had Dennis known with a tiny bit of lead time he would have put up his own display, something he hasn't had to do for 20 years if I remember correctly from our conversation this last December at the mini-meet in Eugene, because attendance is that perfectly organized. This is show business. Yes it is.

If you are reading this I would ask you to consider dropping Buck knife enthusiast, collector and BCCI member Buck Bryant (collects Pre-1970 110s) a line of get well soon. He has responded to this email address for me and I am most grateful that he did. Ivan "Buck" Bryant Jr. bryantjr.ivan@yahoo.com

Thank you for looking.

The show was fantastic as it is every year with the hi-lites being getting together with all the Buck guys and of course the visit from Steve (Oregon) and his son. You could not ask for better people to hang out with except if
more of the BCCI and forum members were there. There were alot of Buck knives to be found but the good deal was very rare. I sold a few, traded a few, bought a couple, and made some contacts for possible future deals.
Each year they give out display award knives for the top displays at the show. They give out unfinished blades to custom knife makers who sign up to make and donate a knife for the next years show. The blade designs are all the same but each are finished off differently in the makers style and choice. The knife I won is by knifemaker David Kurt from Molalla Oregon. The handle is dyed & stabilized camel bone. The fit and finish is perfect. The knife was given out in a plexiglass tube with lid. It is a beautiful well made knife. You also are given a cloth felt lined zippered pouch to store the knife in. As a table holder or displayer I was also given a Spyderco Clip Tool and a silver medallion with a scene of the Three Sisters Mountain range here in Oregon stamped into it.

My wife found me a shirt she just had to buy for me to wear on our last day at the show. She is a real trooper for helping out at the shows although now she is telling me I have to go to a doll show with her. Damm.

Bruce Dolinger, Leroy, and Don Pfanning (I hope I spelled his name right) talking knives.

A custom Buck 112 lever action auto with black pearl handles and black pearl inlayed into lever with a damascus blade. This baby is so smooth working. It is the best auto conversion I have ever handled.
For $500 I could have owned it.

Some more Bucks that were for sale.

Looks like a Painted Pony conversion on the 112 to my sore eyes. Did you ever find that buckle? Never mind. It will turn up in a SPS down the line some Sunday. Thank you for the award knife photos and for the fame and glory you have brought to the forum. Bravo. We have a hero.
