Howdy,

Who's going to the OKCA? I think I'll go, myself. Are there VIP entries available some way?

thanks,

JD

Ah - too much alcohol and loose women will do that to my brain. Thanks for the correction... What time does it start on Friday?

I will be there with my brother and two sons - maybe Friday and Saturday.

Bruce and Shane, I will certainly drop by and see you.

Joss and Nifrand - going to wear Blade Forum or other forum identifying gear?

Geode,
I'll be the guy in the pink flamingo shirt.Cannot miss me. :)
Randy

This year I will NOT have a table.

But I will be there on either Friday or Saturday to shoot the breeze with old friends and buy new supplies.

See you there!!!
Nick

Jon Christensen and I will be heading out early on Thursday morning for the 14 hour drive. Both he and I have tables. You can find me at table O-15. So far I have a nice "Blue" wharncliff folder and a Sambar stag bowie to peddle. With any luck I should have 4 EBKs and a mosaic hunter done before we leave.
I've decided that this will be the "make or break" year for me in Eugene. With the increase in the size of the show it has taken on (no offense intended to anyone) a "flea market" type atmosphere. It's becoming the type of atmosphere that the common gun show possesses, and if sales are no better this year than they were last, I will likely drop the show from my schedule. I got really disgusted last year when there was a table a row over from me selling knick-knacks and cotton candy. There were knives on the table......the kind you see come out of gumball machines :barf:
I've been doing the OKCA show for the last 10 years, but I can't justify the time and money to attend when the sales keep dropping off because of the crowd the show is now attracting. Hopefully I'll have to eat my words, and the show will be stellar, because I do enjoy spending the weekend with a bunch of excellent makers. We'll see how it goes.

I know how you feel Ed. I like this show but never have sold out. There is massive knives with 500 tables. I enjoy seeing my friends there. It still beats any gunshow Ive been at. Not nearly as much camo.

Bruce, Ed, Shane, and other makers who read this thread. I hear you, and am sensitive to how costly the road trip and show can be. Us collectors, even those who don't/can't buy from you at the moment appreciate the effort you make to show up.

From my viewpoint, I would still want your knives even if I did not see you at the OKCA or any other show. :)

Nick,
Kinda glad to hear you won't have your table cause it probably means my knife isn't ready and that means I'll have that much more to spend! Just kidding, I'm sure I'll run into you.
Bruce,
Can't wait to see what you've got on your table, I know I'll be "blown away" (pun intended) by one of your shooting knives.
Ed,
I can see your point. I love OKCA and plan a vacation around it anually but I think it's getting too big. I can't believe that as a collector of custom and antique knives that I'd get burnt out looking at all the booty, but that's what's happened to me the last couple of yrs. Still, that's better than the alternative. It's too bad that they won't put all the makers together, I think that would really help both makers and customers looking at just customs. Anyway, I hope you have a good show. By the way, I loved your "token" stainless folder with the "cracked" colored handles I saw on another BF thread.
Bottom line, I'm leaving tomorrow A.M. for a leisurley drive down the Ore. coast on my way to a knife show....can't beat that.

On the road at Oh Dark 30 this Friday... no stops till Eugene!!!!

(Hint: If you're on I-5 this Friday, the 16th... heading south... STAY OUTTA THE FAST LANE 'CAUSE I"M COMIN" THROUGH!!!!! YEEEEHAAAAAWWWW!!!
:D

I've hesitated, but I'll come over on Thursday night - probably will be there around 11pm. I'll see the offering on Friday and I might or not stay 1 more night.
