I always wanted to canoe the Okefenokee. Never made it happen, though I have done the 'Glades a couple times.

Great trip- thanks for sharing! :)

Thanks, everyone! When I go down in Sept. I'll try to get more on the spiders too. The Okefenokee has some of the most elegant spiders. The colors on them are wild.

Awesome pics. Thanks for sharing. Have you ever had gator bump or hit your canoe?

Could even a small one say 4' or 6' make your canoe rollover?

What does say a 4' or 6' footer weigh if you know?

Thanks,

Bryan

I think they can. I wouldn't underestimate them. A gator can generate enough force with their tail under water that they can shoot straight out of the water vertically almost their total body length. I believe, don't quote me on this, that the average gator reaches 12'-13' and 700 lbs. So we can guesstimate a six footer and 300-400 lbs.

Great picture's from the Swamp's ! I really like Reptile's, There fascinating ! Snake's and Lizard's are my Favorite's, I here there's a Wild population of Nile Monitor's Breeding and setting up Home down there, Them Critter's are Beautiful and an Awesome Predator, Thank's for sharing all the Great picture's, I like the second picture the one with the Baby Gator, He's hanging out In the Shallow's trying not to get Eaten !

Great pics. There is something very special about the swamps and the critters that live there. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the info. Yea I would think that if a gator came up out of the water weather 300 or 700 pounds and landed in your canoe:eek: Crap that would roll your canoe LOL if it did not break it in half and just plain sink it LOL. I like pics to and look forward to seeing more thanks again.

Great pics! I remember canoeing there as a kid. Had a pretty good sized fish jump right into our canoe!

Lately I have been trying to go twice a year. I want to teach wilderness survival when I retire so I'm gaining experience from as many environments as possible. When I go down (I'm about six hours away) I always learn something new. If you go to the east entrance of the swamp to the wildlife refuge you need to talk to a guy named Joey. He's seventh generation on the swamp and very experienced. I stop and talk to Joey when he's there, but mostly go out on my own now. I highly recommend talking to him first if you go.

Thanks for the advice! This years kind of jacked up for me, but next year if you don't mind, I'd like to pick your brain a bit about a trip down there.
