Okie tube rivet flaring setup

Yeah, Thats a monster vise you got there, I dont think my vise is big enough to do the job, how much pressure did you have to exert?, not gorilla strength...

It doesn't take much pressure to flare them in a vise.

Hah! Right freaking on...the bits fit in the allen head of the jaws. Genius...simple and obviously effective.

This is the one part I hate about swapping over slabs, flaring the tubes. It's a pain trying to juggle all the parts while you tighten the vice. I usually have my daughter help.

Thanks for taking the time to share the pics bro.

2 Things:

1) I have never seen aluminum tubes in a Busse(kin) knife. They are stainless steel or brass.

2) Before compressing the tubes, put oil (any kind) on them and it will prevent most tube splitting.

Oh... one more thing. If you are cutting the tubes with a hack saw or otherwise, clean up the edges of the tube before fluting. Sandpaper works fine. If it looks crappy going in... guess what it will look like as a finished product.
Don't ask me how I know...
