I just received a sheath from Okuden, Brian Wagner who does the kydex work for Busse.
I have to say that it is a very well thought-out piece and Brian talked with me on the phone for the better part of 45 minutes discusing not simply the sheath, but my intentions for carrying the knife, my requirements, a specific problem I have with the majority of kydex hip sheaths and he built me in a little over a week's time a high-ride hip sheath that will also carry IWB for $60 including shipping.
That sheath addresses perfectly the problem I have with most hip sheaths and now I can carry a small fixed blade like the rest of civilized humanity if I so choose, rather than "hiding it" and incurring funny looks when a knife appears in my hands.
His workmanship is great, his client service is above the norm and he carries and uses knives daily, so he understood my concerns regarding carry, deployment, retention, replacement and as a practicing student of cose combat in a civilian world, he understood my need for a sheep-friendly hip rig that would also conform as required to discreet carry in the suit and tie world IWB.
I will not hesitate to have other work done by Mr. Wagner and I want to drop one other bit here - the total including the shipping came out to $58 and a few cents. I dropped three $20 bills in the envelope, figurig us to be even.
My receipt came back and told me I have an in-house credit of $1.65. I have close relationships with several folks in the knife biz and think nothing of dropping a few extra pennies/ bucks in the price, as there is always a little play back and forth in the custom world regardless of the product.
Brian's attention to the accounting stood out as this is a man of not only stellar workmanship and attention to his product detail, he runs a realy clean shop all the way around and it really sold me on him even before I stuck my knife in a sheath to see that it fit properly.
Brian, you should see a couple more knives from me soon.
