Olamic 247 has become off center

When I got my 247 it was almost spot on with centering (I think), and through breaking in I guess it now decided to favor the right side a bit. Nothing rubs from what I can tell, but is this an issue and should I try to fix it? Is it just as simple as trying to tighten the pivot a bit? Is it also normal to be able to move the blade around when it's closed? I can push it over to where it's centered, on my GM2 there is zero play in the blade once closed.

Get some light, or medium strength thread lock for the pivot screws. Tighten the pivot to where you have to best action, no play, solid lockup, etc. Let the thread lock dry overnight and you should be good to go. Loose pivot screws will often make the blade off centered. An off centered blade is not a big deal at all, it is ok to buy a knife with an off center blade centering. But, if it was centered when you got it, chances are it is the loose pivot.

Yes to ATJ999. No other reason for it to change, IMO.
Either way, you won't hurt it by tightening the pivot screw for best action...
and I gotta say...that blade is just a TINY bit off-center. Lots of knives would be happy to look that way.

Yep, just a loose pivot screw. Mine loosened up a bit after flipping it for a few days. A drop of LocTite will keep it from moving again.

I haven't put any LocTite yet as I'm awaiting some new hardware from Olamic. :D

I actually think they wear in a bit, probably the bearings creating a small track in the washers they ride on in the scales. Mine did the same thing after several hundred flips. I re-tightened it (without removing to add locktite) and it has been fine ever since. It is now broken in to perfection IMHO. Smooth, secure, and perfect action.

I had some centering issues on mine. I tried flipping it a bit to wear it in but I also noticed some vertical play... I decided to just send it into Olamic. I'm not too upset as this seems like the exception and not the norm. I just got unlucky, haha.

I'm betting it will come back perfect.

Yeah I'm not too worried about it. They have been great to communicate with.

If adjusting the pivot doesn't fix it just send it in. I know a blade slightly off center isn't a big issue but when we are paying several hundred dollars or more we look for perfection. The quicker you send it in the quicker you get it back.

What knife do you have that has bearings that ride on washers? Sounds like an interesting design. I can't see bearings causing a track in stainless steel handles, maybe titanium.

The 247 has a washer in each of the titanium scales that the bearings ride on. That is one of the features that helped sell me on this model. And I could easily be wrong about the "wearing in", could just be the pivot backed itself off a tad. Or a combo of both. But whatever the actual change, re-tightening mine has worked so far.

Is that a free spinning pivot, or is it locked down on one side? A free spinning pivot will never stay tight without thread locker or teflon tape. Every time you flip the knife open, the recoil of the blade in the frame rattles the pivot. A pivot that losens itself is a design flaw. The GM1 has this problem. Great knife, but the blade drifts out of center with about 20 flips. Lock that female pivot half down, makers. Its a frustrating thing to buy a 500+ dollar knife that disassembles itself while you use it.

use loctite

happend to dr frunkey too, but he had more issues so he sent it back.
