Olamic Swish and that uh-oh feeling . . .

I will not see mine til Monday :(
I will be out of town.

That sucks, I hate it when that happens. I have to travel on short notice pretty frequently and the worst is when it involves leaving just in time to miss a new arrival that I'm excited about.

Yeah.... no fun.
But on the plus side, a nice present to come home to. I have to add, Eugene ( Olamic ) is a great guy to deal with.

its my understanding that some manufacture makes the base knife and Olamic then customizes them to order... if that is the case, who is the manufacturer? i heard some one say it was fox knives? but wasnt sure and just wanted more info on the subject.

Swish just isn't my style. The Busker on the other hand... (Love my 247).
I adore my 247 too but got to play with the Buskers at Blade Show and, yeah. I'm a big fan, especially the cleaver/Wharny blade style. No idea yet what they'll run price-wise but I'm already saving my pennies for one! :D

That Olamic Swish sure is slick and although the blade length is longer than the Wayfarer 247 it's actually lighter.

Swish is just too long for my needs and for the same reason I've never carried my big custom Wayfarer. Wayfarer 247 is handier but even that hasn't been carried.

I've asked Eugene of Olamic for flippers with blade lengths of 2.99 inches or less.

Busker is a little too small and definitely too wide.

A Mini Swish with a 2.99" blade would be great. May as well go with M390 instead of Elmax.

Great minds, RamZar, great minds. I was on the phone the other day with Eugene (who is great to work with) and I suggested a 3" Swish if they ever decided to do a small model. He told me about the Busker and I signed up for one, but I would still love a mini Swish, I think that would be amazing.

Indeed. I had mentioned a slim mini to Eugene quite a while back. Hopefully, it will happen.

I'm not fond of wide folders in the pocket.

This just came in the mail, so after playing with it for a bit I grabbed my cell phone to get a quick early photo:

First impression: wow all over again. I love the way my first one looks, but this one is an ounce lighter (3.7oz, very light for a knife this large) and it doesn't pick up fingerprints at all.

The action is what I would consider perfect. Tight, but smooth, and it flips as well as any knife I've ever handled.

I think I've found my new grail! I was browsing the Olamic website last night, as a matter of fact.

evilgreg evilgreg , I'd love to see some pics with the blade closed too!

I probably not the right person to talk you out of it, if that's what you're looking for. ;)

Seriously though, they're great knives.

It's not a great photo, but here you go:

Woahhh... the holes are on both sides! I don't know why, but I guess I just assumed presentation side only. Awesome. Congrats!

The handle on this one looks somewhat busy but a weight saving of a whole ounce is great. It kind of looks like a solar system with planets and their moons in a tight space! :)

I like the aesthetics of the Swish models with holes down the middle although you do not get as much weight savings. Both the blue and bronze anodized ones look nice and the finish looks impervious to fingerprints.

Fun fact: each hole saves about 1g in weight.
