Howdy guys,
A friend of mine was given this knife when he was a kid, which was quite awhile ago ;), and even then he said it was an old knife. Looks like some sort of trapper pattern to me. The handle scales are jigged wood, although almost all of the jigging has worn off. The clip blade was obviously used a good deal more than the skinning blade. Without attempting to make it like new I told him I'd clean it up and sharpen it for him, and he asked if I could find anybody who might know when it was made and what (if anything) it might be worth. It has Case XX stamped on the ricasso of the clip point blade, and 265SAB stamped on the other. As you can see, definitely not MINT but the scales are in decent shape, and both blades have their tips. Fair amount of walk and talk with the skinner blade, the main blade has noticeably less although it still clicks pretty well into place.

Anyway, definitely not my area of expertise so I figured I'd come to the gurus. :) Anything you could tell me would be appreciated, and I'll pass it along. My apologies for the picture quality--I'm currently having to borrow a camera and I'm even less competent with it than I am with mine. Not to mention I seem to have lost the first two shots I took which gave the profile...

That looks like a Case 6265 folding hunter. They were THE folding hunter before Buck came out with the 110. I have a single blade version, the 6165 and it takes a very nice edge and holds it reasonably well. I don't know what it might be worth. You might want to watch what they go for on that popular auction site for a while.

that looks like a well loved folding hunter i'm not all that familiar with the case version but all the companies made a version, camillus, schrade, kabar, etc.
Matter of fact a camillus #26 was my first real pocket knife (grandads) still have it today, as far as slipjoints go they are a beast:eek:

Indeed a two blade folding hunter pattern. Case {over} XX is a 1940-64 era tang stamp.

Great classic pattern and was obviously used well, loved and cared for.

Best,

Anthony

Actually this appears to be a U.S.A. Period stamp commonly stated as 1965-69

I have one, identical to that, that Case re-bladed for me in 2005. New ones today with the same "Stamina-wood" scales usually go for around $60.-$70., but the history of that one makes it priceless, IMO.

thx - cpr
