Here is an old Barner hunter. I think he was a Missouri maker and teamed up with a fella name of Bob Kerr who made his sheaths. I have two of these Barners and stellar work on both. I am keeping the larger one for now. Highly polished blade maybe some would consider it a mirror polish extremely well done and what I would call a trailing point which were pretty popular in the 70's for hunters. The makers mark is stamped clearly on the first 3 letters and lightly on the last 3. You can still read it fine though. Don't know the steel used but a slight convex to the edge and razor sharp. Some light scratches on the blade that if held in the correct light you can see but not feel. Elk handle with what I assume is a buffalo spacer and s.s. pommel and guard. Some very light oxidation at the guard and ricasso juncture, about the width of a hair. Old school hunter with a stiff thin spine, as in ground thin but extremely stiff if that makes sense. Spine is slightly rounded over too. Just a classic hunter. Sheath is a stamped basket weave pattern with a snap that is still tight and the welt still stiff. Taco style as in folded over and with a welt that is sewn in and the makers name stamped on the back. $200 shipped.
