I have some old belts that were not stored properly . They let go at the seam even before steel is touched to the grinder. Is there a good source for seam tape so I could retape the seam????

You can not repair the seam yourself. The glue that is used is super expensive, is kept on dry ice, and has a shelf life of weeks only.

I feel your pain brother. I had some perfectly good belts not stored properly that did the same thing.

So exactly what is the proper way to store belts. Mine hang on wooden dowels on a shop wall. Good bad?

I keep them in the original boxes lying flat, in a closet in the house. All the hot cold, wet, dry in the shop can be murder on them!

I hang mine from hooks as well and haven't had many problems. A few belts have blown up in my face, but thats mainly because I am a cheap bastard and use them until they self-destruct. I need to make another order for a bunch of blaze belts.
