Old BMs, Where Are They All?

OH MY.............. When I started this thread, I had no idea what was coming! Completely in awe!

Some really cool old mistresses pictured in this thread. Thanks guys. Hopefully one day i'll get the chance to use one.

willic, To answer your original question "where are they all", the SHBM is an iconic Busse, so I would guess that many are in collections of old hogs that do not post these days. In my opinion it is a great knife to use, so I am sure there are users out there that rarely if ever appear in this forum. Sadly, some SHBMs will end up like this:

Check out the top SHBM. It has a full swedge all the way across. I sold this one several years ago.

I am going to write this in large bold letters so everyone understands the importance of Busse's heat treat. Ask anyone about heat treating a piece of steel that has 0.6% Carbon or less and see what they say about how high an Rc they can reach. No one will ever expect any steel with 0.6% C to reach an Rc of 65. Busse did it with the WASP. Amazing. And that knife has been through a lot. Shows the toughness of that original INFI coupled with Busse's HT. .

Brings a tear to my eye. We need a ROCKY montage.........

Wow, amazing pieces of history here.
Can't imagine how that high rc performs.
Do you think that was one of the blades Jerry used in the challenge at blade?
Edit: nope it was a basic 9
