I picked this sheath up for one of my 110's. I was looking for an older style 110 sheath that had the wider belt loop that went closer to the top. After digginf out my bag of sheaths I picked this one up along with my 110 and notice that the knife would sit very deep in the sheath.

There is not a 110 stamped into the back.

Is this sheath made for a 110? Is this a real sheath from Buck ?

Thanks,
John

wow, thats one of the oldest low rider sheaths ever made, notice how narrow it is compared to the regular 110 sheaths.I would say late 60's for sure!It is definately a real buck 110 sheath, made for buck

Thank you very much for the info, I just wish I had the knife that went with it  .

I did notice how thin it was, which is what made me question it.

Thanks again,
John

It's real. At first I thought it was for a 317, but I tried a 110 in the 317 sheath and it fits just fine. I'm pretty sure yours is for the 137 Steel Master.

I have a 1968 110 sheath that looks just like that, but it's marked 110 on the back just above the belt loop.

Thanks Dave, that would explain why it is so long. Well this might just get a little interesting

Thanks,
John

I might be wrong about that, but that would also explain why it's so narrow. It looks like it's been the home for a 110 in it's past though, the green on the inside of the flap is a perfect match for the shape if the rear bolster.

Whoa......just realized mine is a bit different in that the stitched leather on mine goes up a little over an inch on both sides of the front above the snap. Hard describe so adding pics.

This is a 1968. These were narrower because the knife was narrower in those days.

BG, Yours looks scalloped more. I've seen some like that as you say from the late 60's knives. The 2dot sheaths were like that as well just the 110 stamp was moved below the belt loop . Plumber, My 137 sheath looks like yours, a fold over and its from the time of the 2 dots . There was a company that made sheaths for Buck in 67 with no 'Buck' on the snap . Some guys have shown them here . Thanks for the photos . DM

I repeat, I am not a folder fan. However, I have selected a few sheaths as examples of the slow transition of the sheath.

The first is a 1967 BUCK*, the second is 1968-70 Third Vers. Var. 4, the third is a Third Vers. Var.7; the fourth is a Third Vers. var. 3, and the fith one is a Fifth vers. Var. 5 (not clear in the picture but is stamped "110" at the bottom of the back).

Interestingly, the 3rd Var. 3 is riveted while the 3rd Var 4 and 7 are not.

I am sure there are more knowledgeable individuals here who can clear this up more than can I (a non collector of folders).

Atchison. I think they were doing them for much of '68, too. I don't know if they made the 110 sheath. I don't recall seeing one.

My first 110, purchased in 1972, came in a sheath identical to your #3.

I just ran across a sheath cut like Johns that has 110 stamped on the loop. It has a 3rdV var3 in it. Sheath doesn't look carried. Knife does.
Snap is plain ss. No Buck

I did notice that the pocket is of a slightly thinner material than on newer sheaths. But not as soft and plyable as some of the older ones.

My sheath seems to be like the second sheath in yor picture. I remeber seeing that sheath in a knife case and asking the store's clerk if I could see the Buck knife. He replied, "there is no knife, only a case". From what the manager said there was a knife in it when it came in. At some point the knife just came up missing.

I feel like I opend a can of worms.

Thank you guys for all of your help,
John
