I have a old sears large lock back made in the usa
Made by camillus what is the exact blade steel camillus called high carbon steel ? The tang on the sears model just says stainless . The knife itself is pre 1994

Camillus' standard stainless was 440A, with which, I might add, they did nicely. According to Phil Gibbs, they ran 440A at ~58HRC. This makes for a decent performance.

As knarfeng noted, if it says "stainless" then it's most likely 440A.

Camillus's "high carbon steel" is 0170-6 but it is not stainless.

0170-6 is also known as Kabar's 1095CV and Cold Steel's Carbon V.

It's a nice edge I got this before I really got into blades.
Thanks for the info
