Old English Bowie and sheath

Wow, Beautiful piece of work Bruce  I really like the shape of the blade. What type of handle construction was used on this one ?
PM sent.

Good eye David, I was waiting for this question.
Its a full tang but the pommel is too wide to slide the guard over it so I cut a wedge shaped piece out of the tang and squeezed the dog bone together so the guard can be slid on. Then its just a matter of putting the wedge back in place to spread the dog bone out again and pin the rear bolsters in place.

I love the 3d effect when your eye moves from the flats to the bevels.
It's like looking at a 3d topo map.

I also like the finese in the engraving. It's not overdone and adds a
nice touch to the piece.

Amazing work, as always!

Bruce, have you ever made a bad knife! Seriously, everything you have ever posted has always been some of the best work I've seen. Post something mediocre for a change, you're starting to make some of us feel bad!

As already mentioned, I like that false edge and how it elegantly vanishes as it progresses to the tip. Contributes to the "motion" of the blade design.

I also like the lines and shape of the guard. A well executed guard is a hallmark of a knife of this caliber and yours hits the mark (again).

I have made some that I wouldnt show anybody. I have a box full of blades under my bench that look so bad I cant stand to drag them out.
