I don't think I've ever used the lock on my Opinel as well. I love them but hate to carry them for some reason they just don't ride well in the pocket for me. Even the #6 didn't work out. Where can I take a look at this mini peasant? Not a Trad pocket knife but I picked up a Spyderco Dragonfly and for an easy opening small pocket knife it is really nice. Ugly, sure but take off the pocket clip and it rides in the pocket very nicely.
Interesting that you mention the Dragonfly, as I think their Roadie is also a great option for aging fingers. If I understand correctly, discussing that knife is out of bounds here for the ridiculous reason that the proverbial “guy from the 1960s would find the blade shape too odd.” Ridiculous because we’ve all seen any number of odd blade reshaping of traditionals. Check out any flea market or antique show and you’ll see what I mean.
In either case, if you are a diehard slipjoint person, and your aging fingers aren’t, the Roadie may represent a good compromise.
