Smoky Mountain Knife’s old Forge Pocket Knives
I recently discovered these knives, am really happy with them; and thought I would share.
Here’s the Good, the Bad & the Ugly as I see it.
The Good:
-All are under $20 and have D2 Blades
-They are really good looking, especially the burnt orange covers.
-The fit & finish are solid, especially for the price. No proud pins, no major gaps between the springs and liners on the bottom. On the other hand, the shield on the Stockman isn’t centered top to bottom and the transition from the shield to the jigged bone on the Barlow isn’t smooth. Still, I give high marks in this area due the the price for these knives with D2 blades.
The Bad:
-There is only one thing that is bad, though it’s a big issue for me. There is no half stop any of the knives. Of course the half stop is a safety feature to keep the blades from closing on your fingers.
-The walk & talk is acceptable on all but two of the blades on the Stockman.
The Ugly:
Nothing ugly,
All in all, I’m delighted with these knives. The covers are gorgeous, which I love. I’m a big D2 fan. The value for the dollar is very, very good in my experience.
