A local thrift store has a set of Old Homestead kitchen knives. Made in Japan. The set comes with two blocks. One block contains steak knives. The other a Chefs knife, paring knife, boning knife, fillet knife , butchers knife, and honing steel.

Any of you know the quality of Old Homestead knives?

Ive Googled it Old homestead and could not find much, except they are made by Lifetime Cutlery. Must be junk, judging from the lack of responses.

Wait, before you pass judgement I have had a set of "Old Homestead" cutlery for 15 years and it has served me well. I use the Spyderco Sharpmaker to sharpen them when they get dull. They have turned out to be some wonderful kitchen knives. I only use them for cutting food and they work great.

The set I have is a knockoff of a set of 4 knives and a block from Chicago cutlery.
