i have an oold kiln stashed at a friends house for 5 years now.as far as i know it works. i remmember it having a smaall slot for a place to put the cones in. it approx 3 ft deep and octaganolly about 18"-2ft across. is there anyway i could use this to heat treat. would there be anyway to hook up a digital temp moniter oor controller. all together its probably 20 years old. thanks

I used one for a while I installed a thermo couple pid from http://auberins.com/ to read the temp. I cut a hole in the top and suspended my blade in side on wire and covered the hole with a fire brick. It worked. But, they are very slow because of the huge volume, It also had a hard time getting hot enough for high alloy steel (1850f up). I finally tore it apart and used the bricks and the switch along with the pid, thermocouple and a SSR to make it into a real HT oven
