I have a knife which belonged to my Dad. It was made in Mexico. He got it after bootcamp in San Diago in 1942. It is a dagger, and has a pewter handle shaped like a gragon head or either a bird of prey has original leather scaboard it is approx. 10-12" in length. My question is other than sentimental value is it worth much? It is stamped with Mexico and initials of maker. I have had sveral locals look at it, but they were unable to look it up They did say they had never seen one like it before.

Can anyone lead me in the right direction?

Hi,

Although neat knives, many of the Mexican figural head knives can be found in the U.S.. Is the handle solid pewter(or it could be Aluminum), or does it have a horn insert?

Most are woth $25-50, but check with Bernard Levine, a few forums down the list.
