Next is a buffalo head jumbo trapper by H.S.B. & Co . The blades are full ,good snap ,a little side to side wiggle on both . A hairline ,tight check on one pin . But for it's age good condition. 4-1/2" closed, and has the " flush joint" . I am not able to read the stamp on the main blade
I have found this info on the internet ,about this knife :
Buffalo Head Shield Jumbo Trapper sold by Hibbard Spencer & Bartlett Co.
These knives were made on contract for H.S.B Co. By Utica Knife Co. The cutlers
who worked for Utica were from Germany and worked there in 1915. They had
left Solingen Germany and went to work for Camillus then Utica in 1915 and then
left to work for Boker where the first acorn shields were used. Then in 1919
went to Remington and in 1922 the first bullet knives were made. This Jumbo
Trapper predates the Remington trapper by 7 years and was made by Utica and
then later introduced to Remington UMC by the very same cutlers.Knife measures
4-1/2" long closed. This knife has scarce imitation stag handles and the sought
after large Buffalo Shield.
I had it appraised and was told " 3 to 600"
Asking $400.
