I don't think I have seen the tweezers and toothpick used outside of the Swiss army knives,never with a "standard " jack knife.

Sheffield has been putting those "inserts" in knives for many years - likely well before Victorinox!!

Brass Jack from Southington Cutlery!!
Apparently, Southington ceased cutlery operations before the first World War, in 1905!! This makes this Jack, little used since that time, and maybe cleaned a bit, but still an impressive specimen!!

Nice Southington, Charlie! Those are a wee bit rare, methinks! Sorry to put these two knives into the Old Knives thread, as they are not old, but to show that besides the scout/camp knives and the horseman knives, these trappers came out with toothpick and tweezer.

Darn! This pre-WWII German Boker does not have a toothpick or a pair of tweezers! The most remarkable aspect of this knife aside from being clad in lovely horn, is that it is a full 3 3/4 inches closed.

Interesting construction. With Rostfrei on the tang it makes me think German made, but it appears to have brass pins in nickel silver bolsters. The Germans usually used steel pins in nickel silver bolsters.

Thanks, the photo isn't very clear, but the pins are nickel.

Added a nice 3 5/8" ebony whittler, Fletcher Hardware Detroit, Goins has 1863 to 1912 so it's an old one. Don't know who made it. Etched Trade Mark with bulldog head between Trade and Mark. Does have a diamond on pile side main tang, I have seen various symbols on the back of early American tangs which are thought to be the steel makers marks.

Robeson 623501 pen 1919-39
