"Old Knives"

On my previous visit to Sheffield I picked up this small IXL Jack in excellent condition. Frame is identical to a GEC Coyote.

Jack, 2 wonderful knives but that Rodgers, OH MY what a knife! Just the various stampings on that blade make it very unique.

Another knife I picked up a couple of months ago in Sheffield is this Slim Jack by J.Howarth.

Gevonovich my friend. What is it? I always agree with you matey- our tastes run through the same veins.
Jack I love that JR - love the way the earlier Joseph Rodgers stamped so heavily into their blades.

Nice knife my friend.

You and Jack just have superlative taste my friend! LOL Hope you and your beautiful Sue are having a blast:D Loved the smiling faces in the pictures you all posted. That's what its all about right there:thumbup::thumbup:

Nice Joseph Rodgers knife Jack with what I define as a typical style Sheffield jigging. I do not know the relative time frame ,but I would guess WWII or later.

I owe a lot of additions to this thread :o For now, I thought some of you might be interested to see this Joseph Rodgers Jack, which I picked up in Sheffield last week

I just had to bring up all the pics. Great knife, Jack. Lots of character, and looks to be in very good condition!

Thanks for all your very kind words my friends, they are much appreciated, as are those great links Gev, incredible! :)

Wow, Jack, those last 3 were beauties. I'm sure you picked the best 3 out off your kitchen table pile, but regardless, those are quite nice! That Rodgers jack is stunning, to my eyes at least.

Lovely knife. My late grandpa use to have one exactly like that. Trying to find it. One if my family members must have it. But no one wants to own up.

A match strike after-pull !!

Again ,that jigging is typical ,of some era, Sheffield.

Thanks a lot my friend  I'm afraid there's plenty more on the table :o :D

Really? Incredible. I hope you manage to track it down

Thanks for your thoughts Lyle, I hope you're keeping well :) The Rodgers came from an antique shop with over 200 Sheffield pocket knives - but not a single Farmer Jack nor a single Barlow :(

Jack, wow! That is a treasure!

I would guess any knife that advertizes fire-striking might come from before there were matches- early 1800s?
