"Old Knives"

Now that NICE Rachael:cool: Very curvy, how old are you guessing that beauty is?

Thanks, Paul. It's pre-1930s for sure, since that's when Lockwood went out of business, and possibly late 1800s, according to Duncan over in the Ettrick thread.

Thanks Rachael, I have yet to own an Ettrick but really like them as well as Pruners and Farmer Jacks. A purpose built knife really intrigues me.

Large folders from 3.75" closed up. From left to right Schrade, HSB & Co. (NYKC), Shapleigh DE (Schrade), Early Arched Schrade Cut Co., NYKC, VF and a Schrade Cut Co. Lloyd

That is an impressive display of beautiful folders! I just spent the last 10 minutes ogling them and will be viewing this page for some time to come. Love 'em all but especially the Shapleigh's end cap, the bone on the arched Schrade, the shapely ebony and graceful shield of the NYKC and the overall goodness of the VF. I very much appreciate you showing them today, Thank you Sir!

Thanks, Cambertree, for the info on Bunny Knives.

Augie, that Jumbo Jack is stunning!

My latest (and possibly oldest) find:

Lockwood Brothers:

Nice old Ettrick, r8shell! I love those knives!!!

And that's a fine collection of Big Jacks, Lloyd!!!

WONDERFUL knives Lloyd look at those covers!! Love the DE, third in from the left. Would love to see the end cap if time allows?:)

Thanks redsparrow, Charlie and Paul for the nice comments on these folders--much appreciated!! I think it was a couple of
years ago that Charlie posted this scan in the thread entitled "Diamonds in the Rough" (started by Philllll) that launched me on a quest to see if I could find a Shapleigh DE large Jack with an end cap like this one below. I was mesmerized by the folder and then found this one at the last OKCA show in April of this year. Of course I was thrilled to find one. Not as nice as Charlie's but none the less a very nice excellent condition specimen nonetheless. Thanks again gentlemen and happy holidays, Lloyd

Oh Lloyd!!!
Matey- those are some very very nice knives there- I was about to single out a couple of knives for extra comment - but they are all just superb. The Bone on each us stunning- what an absolutely beautiful line up of beauties.

Very nice examples Luger and r8shell, and wonderful color an those Lockwood Brothers handles.

Here's an old Schrade Cut Co Washington Jack with unique covers that arrived yesterday. Not my first choice cover wise but to me they are a bit unusual. The blades are fantastic, full and no play/wobble at all.

Thanks Harry and I agree that the Washington Jack is hands down the classiest SFO made to date. The covers aren't celluloid but a synthetic of some sort.

Beautiful old example, and I think those handles look pretty darn good on that classic pattern.

Here is a German variant by Boker.

That's it Paul, ...I give up. That Schrade has pushed me over the edge and I'm totally convinced... there's isn't any good ones left, YOU'VE GOT 'EM ALL! ;)
