"Old Knives"

Picked up this Clauss equal end jack, nice bone and has an interesting pile side swedge to the main, my picture does not show it well but its like the tip of a saber or dagger.

I found this one at the antique store today. The tang stamp says Walden Knife Co. Made in USA.
I don't know when they switched stamps from NY to USA, but it must be pre 1923. Unfortunately, the clip blade was broken.

Or maybe I should say fortunately for me, the clip blade was broken. I didn't pay much, and having lost its collector value, I decided I could make it into a very cool utility blade.

That is some nice looking bone on that one Augie.

That utility blade shape should serve you well Rachel. Nice job.

Augie, that Clauss is a beauty. The bone, the swedging, the pointy shape of the spear!

That came out great r8shell!!!

John, very nice Clauss:thumbup:

Rachel, great rescue:cool:

Thanks, guys. I've pretty much got the rust off the backsprings, and after I touch up the edge it'll be a very stylish box-cutter. :D

R8shell- that looks great and brave you for buying such a damaged knife- now that very cool box cutter looks ready for another 80 years of service 👍

Thanks everyone, wish I could get a better picture of the pile side swedge,it is quite unique.

Rachel, great job on that Walden, really looks good and usable for another 100 years.

Recent acquisition, an Ibberson 4 blade shadow senator in MOP, marked inside with SS-57. Built by Stan Shaw in 1957. Enjoy John's photos.

Here's some nice old wedge back survivors, hard to place dates on these two. If any of the Sheffield experts can chime in I'd love to hear what they think...

Fabulous piece, Charles, really one of the finest I've seen! Many thanks for allowing us into your museum.
