"Old Knives"

Very cool whittler. I haven't seen one with the double pulls like that.

Yeah Mike,I think you see blades set up like that on the bigger knives It is really cool on that one.Nicely laid out

Here's another small whittler with a double pull master blade. It's an old Ulster sleeve board with the monogram "EP" on the shield. It's 3" closed with a spacer between the 2 small blades but has no liner between the back springs. I've told friends the "EP" stands for Elvis Presley, but the fact is that its probably a generation older than him.

Interesting.. I like the duel pulls on the master blades. Good of y'all to share here.

Thanx,

Anthony

I'm not 100% sure this is old enough but it was Grandpas and he had it back as long as I can remember and I'm 49 now.

Besides I LOVE it and it snaps like a Gator!

What do y'all think?

Nice old Case. The "Tested" period (according to BRL) ran from about 1920 through 1946. (Previously and usually the ending was listed as 1940 but apparently it ran through the end of WWII.)

(I had moved your earlier post from yesterday and made it a separate thread as some of the knives were of too recent vintage to belong in this thread.)

Here we have a Kutmaster that my Dad gave me recently and can't tell me anything about.

And here is a Camillus that I think was Grandpas but has had the HECK sharpened out of it!

Sorry about the blurry blade stamp pic but my camera isn't the very best.

I used to have a Kutmaster like yours. According to the guy I bought it from, they were made for the US Military in the 1970s as survival kit knives. Whether that is true or not, I have no idea. Nice story though.

Might be dubious. Mike Silvey informed Charlie (Waynorth) and me about some Kutmaster & Ward's knives which were purported to be gov't/military issue but were, in fact, fakes.

I doubt mine was a fake, but the story might have been. It cost my $7.00 and was well made. Great heat treat on the blades too. A bit hard to sharpen, but once sharp would hold the edge for ever and a day. No one in their right mind would make a fake that good and only charge $7.00.

As near as I could tell using a razor blade all three (Case Kutmaster and Camillus) have bone handles.

I would think there is NO WAY you would get that for 7 bucks!

Did I mention I LOVE the blade on the Case?

Ok, mine was almost like yours. It had Delrin scales. Another reason I don't think it was fake was the guy I bought it from. The way he saw the world, embellishment was just good salesmanship, but fakes were dishonest. Actually, I've known a lot of people in sales like that.

A couple of bone handle NYKs. Almost the same pattern in 2 sizes. The larger Trapper is 3 7/8" closed & the smaller Peanut is 2 7/8" closed. The master blades are both saber ground on the front side and flat ground on the backs.

Although the larger Trapper is more of a "Slimline" shape they also make a nice pair. The larger one is 4 1/8" closed & the Peanut is the standard 2 7/8" closed.

Somebody was kind of mean to the blade on the big one...

I'd be pleased as a Pig in slop to own the small one!!!

Fartsmella - Is the master on the Schrade peanut crocus or glaze finished on the other side?

I really like those two NYKC that you posted, very nice.
