"Old Knives"

Picked up this Camillus Outers type sheath knife, fairly early with bone handles, also has a Sword Brand tang stamp on pile side that I have not seen that often on this pattern knife.

North Shore, there's a bit of Dog in all of us, looking at those two Greats - brings it out a bit! Makes me want to go over there and just Snatch these out your hands my friend!

ps...I like that background - is that a print of a old Advertising Poster - or an old Hardware enameled sign of sorts?

When the angle of the light is right the remnants of the etch is visible. 4" closed, it's a big un for a whittler. From my research it seems like Remington didn't make many of this R3073 pattern nor did they make many knives with a punch without the acorn shield.

I couldn't get the light right in this first picture, main blade isn't that dark in hand.

The punch is large at 2.25" vs 2" on standard scouts.

Thank you, it is a lacquered wooden board about 10" high x 24" wide I believe. From what I've heard they were found by the dozens at one of the Olean NY KA-BAR facilities and sold off in the 90s or something, I recently found this one for sale on eBay from a porcelain sign dealer so I was all over it as a KA-BAR enthusiast. The knives aren't half bad either lol

I have to agree with our friend Charlie- that’s a absolute beauty. I love that combination of Blades and Punch. Stunning Bone!!! Outstanding Knife my friend!

Charlie I've admired old divided springs whittlers for a spell but was never willing to pay the price. The seller had this listed as a Stockman whittler which is correct I guess but threw me off until I saw the springs. I made him an offer, I'm glad he accepted. Thanks for the compliment and glad this one put a twinkle in your eye:thumbsup::)

Great find!!

Thanks Duncan:thumbsup:, the pictures of the punch were with you in mind as you are an advanced student of the punch. You and Charlie have inspired me to chicken eye every old harness jack I bump into, hopefully I can add a few more to my collection.
