Old Lady Expirement

John (Peanut) inspired me. If all he carries is a peanut, 4 way screwdriver, and p-38, I can carry just one knife. I am too old to use a p-38, or 4 way screwdriver, so I am just going to carry my Vic SAK Cadet. (at least till he comes home). Hopefully I'll learn to strop the blade properly. Who knows, maybe that will be the one that's "worth it's weight in gold" to me.

Stropping ain't too hard, all you got to do is remember your angle for the stone, & reduce it by 1/2 degree. If you use an old belt like me, lay it flat on the belt, push down so the knife is in a belly, & pull spine to you. That does the same thing. The belt should only give 1/8" slack/movement under pressure, more than that & you'll round the edge.
I forgot to ask. How many Mora's are you up to now?

The p-38 beats any scout type can opener period. It's also a perfect fish gutter. The Sears 4 way screwdriver you can torque till the cows come home & it'll still be good. Combine the p-38+1 corner of the 4 way, & you got instant pliers.;)
My Peanut came yesterday, the guy I ordered from sort of screwed up the order he sent an Amber Bone SS. He said to keep this 1 & he'll send the YHCV model tonight, at no charge. When I get back I'll keep this ABSS for church. Thin as the blade is it cuts like a lazer even if it is SS. Plus it'll always be shiny.:D
Question, am I the only guy that keeps a roll of electrical tap on me? Everyone makes fun of the little tupperware tub I keep & the things I keep in it.

Are you SURE that they're not making fun of you cause you're nuts? A p-38 for a fish gutter? Your keychain must STINK!

Only a 1/2 degree???
I have over a dozen complete Mora's, and 1 dozen blade blanks.:D

How is stropping easy?
I just started to strop, and you still have to keep the knife at a right angle same as free hand sharpening?[/quote]
I only strop convex grind knives.

That's a Pioneer not a Cadet :)

I only strop convex grind knives. The box it came in says Cadet II silver alox on it. Sorry for the double post!!

It's indeed a Cadet II, it's about 3-1/4" closed. That's my EDC when I wear dressier pants due to it's slim profile. They dropped the Cadet II (2 blades)and stuck with the original Cadet (1 blade and nail file). :)
