Hello everyone,

I've inherited my Father's knife collection...a lot of old knives I have no clue about. Anyone know about the "Le Balkanique"? It's not in very good shape, some of the inlay has come out and the blade is a little rusty and well used...at one time it looks like it had some nice etching on it...

I think it's bone...or horn...? And then there's this one....dinner is served!

This one's a Palco, not sure about any of these brands...just through I'd put up some pics and see what anyone thought?

The first knife is a ring pull type folder, these are some what popular in Europe(they get exported all over the world though). The name on the blade makes me think it might be French. Okapi makes similar knives now.

The second knife is a scout/utility type folder, looks like it might be from the 50's-60's.

" Le Balkanique" is a french brand from Thiers. brands "Le Balkanique" , "The Balcanic" , " Le Balkanais" , "Les Balkans" were registered between 1914 and 1919 by Saint Joanis / Bayle then located 16 place du Palais , Thiers .

This kind of model was issued to french troops during WWI.

thanks for reading
