Hello everyone. Hoping use this thread to share some photos of a few beautiful pieces of Westinghouse Micarta I've come across.

If anyone has any interesting stories or info about Westinghouse Micarta, please feel free to share below!

Thanks .Some of the terms used are not very precise . These are all fiber composites .Properly the material should described with name of fiber and name of resin. Without using trade names . All to often words like micarta are used for more than one material.
 
Unicorn Rag micarta.

 
Taylor fiber company canvas from the 60's. Cool edge grain. Finishes out more of a gray color.

 
I'm really starting to appreciate these materials on user knives, especially with a somewhat rough finish. Great tactile qualities too IMO.
 
That's amazing stuff!

I've got some 1960's East German canvas micarta from a ship repair that I've got tucked away for some special planned projects.

Daizee, is the East German material you have called Novotex? Or maybe Textolit? And is it a reddish brown color? Novotex was used in the automotive industry here as far back as the 1930s. Very cool stuff
