Get yourself an OG in the BM 970 or 975. I love my 975 pe. Lock up is rock solid and it is shaving sharp and stays that way. Don't forgo Southern Grind Bad Monkey or the Spider Monkey line either, and for a cheap thrill and very high quality f.b. look at the CIVIVI M1. I bought it on a whim cause it was cheap and it is outstanding carried off side with a full size handle that disappears under my shirt. The D2 steel is heat treated as it should be. Swedged spear point for easy penetration but is utilitarian at the same time. stay safe
If I wanted the regrind I would send the knife to someone on the forums here that does this for a living. Or let your friend take his best shot at it, but I sure hope he is really good with a belt grinder, doesn’t overheat your steel and or take too much off, keeps the edge perfectly straight end to end and etc…….. lots of things can go wrong with this. Just sayin…….— Irregular update #5
The ATCF Original Gangster in OD Green Micarta came in and was eventually returned.
Stunning fit and finish as well as choice of materials but it's too big, and heavy.
I very much prefer my CQC-7A with OD green micarta scales.
In terms of classics, short of the clip, it's an improvement.
But that chisel grind edge is killing me.
I mean I tried.
I get that in a pinch, I'll probably get a chisel grind edge "sharp" with what I can find left and right.
It's just that simple touch ups require a much more difficult process than a usual V-grind if you have access to a simple kitchen rod.
I'm considering asking a friend to lightly re-grind the edge to a conventional V — I've seen decent examples here and there but was wondering if anyone had any advice?
