  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Old Pocket Knife Boxes

Real nice Remington and box, herder! It's nice to see them together - almost like being in the Hardware store!!:)

Here's an Ulster, where you got to take the box home!!:D

The glare has blurred a perfect etch - sigh . . . . .

galvanic1882 galvanic1882 , Nice old boxes! The Canastota Knife Co. box sent me poking around the web. I lived in Canastota, NY for a few years after I was discharged from the Air Force in the mid '70s. Canastota was one of many towns that prospered because of its location on the Old Erie Canal.
The following is from the Town of Lenox Early Industries records.

Canastota Knife Co. /knives, cutlery / 1874-1895

Canastota knives sold nationwide, about 600 sytles manufactured including cigar cutters & knives for removing stones from horses' hooves. (Canastota)

Such a great thread with such wonderful history. Thank you all for sharing those treasures with us.
