Two hundred years ago, your khukuri would have been up against these. Come to think about it the same thing may have happened last week. Good designs are long lived.

These examples probably date to the early 19th/late 18th century, but are possibly older. The deeply double fullered yatagan knife is on top, and the sturdy khyber knife on the bottom. Note, the heavy steel reinforcement used on the sheath of the khyber knife, and the narrow (ear-less) handle on the Caucasion yatagan.

Which HI khukuri would you want in your hands if you found yourself up against one of these?

Each box is 1"x1"

That yatagan has an OAL of 27 inches, and a blade length of 23 inches, with a point drop of 3".

Faced with a yataghan, my khukuri of choice would be an Uzi...

That would be my choice for anything bigger than a nail clipper. :)

But, if we had to limit ourselves to HI khukuries....

.... I would take a Kagas Katne and a good pair of running shoes.

Is there anyway that HI would make a yatagan like this? It's sort of like a khukuri. I'm sure that you would have a few takers.

More pretty pics, N2S. Thanks.

Both those blades are pretty fearsome. They both look like efficient thrusters. So, I'd be joining you in the 100 yard dash.

S.

PS. When are you going to make Ruel and me happy and make us a model from that yataghan?

Uzi? What's an Uzi? I don't got no stinking Uzi. Someone else musta filled out that yellow sheet.

Yellow sheet? Whatsa "yellow sheet"?? (add a heavy Brooklyn accent on the second part)

So who wanted more....

Good point. If you could stick to that, you might drive them away. They wouldn't know if you were mad or mad with ability and killing lust... And ancient people were only slightly more uncomfortable with madness then we are today.

munk"Mad,as in Sick"! ME!!Surely you jest! I just like to work close so, I don't have to chase them! Simple & effective! MAD, MY***!! GRUMBLE,GIVE A REASON & everyone WANTS TO GET PICKY & "SLANDER"!
jim:cool:

I'd probably pick a 25" Kobra with fullers, a wood handle, less forward blade curve than standard (ie. straighter), and a slightly thinner blade (thickness-wise). The idea is speed and reach, as I think that a good hit from a Kobra would be enough to take a limb off. Heck, if the stories I hear of 10" bowies being easily capable of taking an arm off with one swipe are true, then a Kobra should be able to do that and more.

Alright. Fine. I'd come equiped with a Jim Clifton.

The one legged dancing girl- did she come like that, or did you help remove the leg?

Tisimi,

I would decline to answer that one on .... (you know why)

Let's see, if we take a 25 inch Kobra and lose the cho, and then change the handle a little; do we end up with a yatagan?

Why not a Tarwar, N2? Not long enough?

BTW, Can a tarwar chop like a Khukuri without breaking?
