  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Thanks Mr Clifton, I was wondering how tough the tarwar is. If I ever get a sword that is the one. Do you have one?

BTW, Can a tarwar chop like a Khukuri without breaking?

Yeah, when I saw that Military guy (is it Saryet?) with his Tarwar, I'm seriously thinking about getting one!

I was wondering how good the Tarwar would be. As a weapon, sure, I have no doubt as to it's functionality, but how would it perform as an all-round "Swiss-Army" Khuk?

I have had the fullered yatagan showned at the begining of this thread for over ten years. This afternoon I am showing it to the wife, and I hand it to her, and as I am standing a few feet away the light hits the piece at just the right angle.

Well it turns out the piece is marked. Perhaps I removed some of the ancient gunk that was covering this part of the knife when I lightly oiled it yesterday morning for the photo.

This is what I found this afternoon. Can anyone make anything out here?

I see the characters, N2S. Looks like the text might start with an " 'ayn". Can you mess with the pic to make it more legible? If so, then Manoucher or myself (with help from the little lady) could probably give you a translation.

Let's see if this works better. The markings are very faint and hard to capture on a photo.

The top picture shows the left side, the bottom picture the right side, and I have left an overlap to help you align them.

Thanks for the help. Whew! that was a close one; it might have said MADE IN TAIWAN. :D

Not2 can you do a carbon rubbing?

I may try that, but the markings are very faint, so tranferring them is iffy.

This might be a little better.
