UPS and FedEx combined to force me to spend time and money fetching stuff I hoped to have delivered. Basically they wouldn't just leave the stuff, I had to sign for it. Since I am expecting a couple sensative items I took off early to go pick up the packages. Now the customer service centers for both of these are located in the same part of town, on a stretch of road that's usually busy, but on Friday's becomes even more difficult to traverse.

Leaving early and getting into the correct location left me with a couple hours to burn. So I hit the antique mall across the freeway. I've never had much luck there with knives, but there's other stuff on the list, so it's better than just sitting in the car. Found some stuff that interested me so got one of the staff to start opening cabinets. Got a good close look at this and pretty much forgot all the rest, although there's a nice little bearded hand axe I may have to go back for.

Here's a nice Schrade Double Blade Push Button Auto:

The knife was pretty gummed up; the blades just barely "clicked" out of locked position. But she cleaned up pretty nice. As far as I can tell the blades are still untouched. Blades move very well after minor cleaning and even the insides are shiny.

One crack on the pen side, but no real problems. This is definitely one of the nicest knives I've fond in the past couple years. Cost more than i usually pay, location and the fact that if nothing else the vendor could tell it was an "old" Schrade, but it's worth it.

Aww, it's only one weeks budget - and it sure looks worth it to me!!
Real nice one, eisman!!

Very nice, eisman. Be careful, though. Those little beggers can be addictive.

I just purchased my first double blade vintage auto. It is a Press Button Knife Co knife and looks similar to yours but without the slide tab safety. They are very interesting knives. Cool knife!

Yablanowitz - you're scaring me!

Nice collection.

That was exactly my thought.:D
What a neat little Schrade. A good way to blow the budget I'd say.

The nice thing about budgets, is that they are a reference point, and can and should not be written in stone. We only live once.

I had an uncle that lived a pauper's life, and would never buy anything just for himself. Had no hobbies, no collections, nada nuttin. Worked hard all his life and made good money. Married with 3 kids. Died a well to do person, about 10 years ago. His kids are still fighting over his estate, and none of them will talk to each other to this day. Sad sad story.

Blessings,

Omar

I have only seen these in the old catalogs, Eisman. What a honey of a specimen!! Thanks so much for sharing this beauty. I'm in trouble now:eek:

Wow it is a gem, good value to your money eisman. I've never seen one like this and here we are with 5 more @ Yablanowitch. Cool collection.

One of my future vices, I shoulda got into 'em when I was younger, they were still plentiful and I had more disposable cash.

If I was smart if sell my modern autos for cash to buy some nice vintage ones,

Wow...Jack has a few of those lil' beasties!

Eisman, your example is just stunning, I love the look of that Bone!
I consider you a very lucky man Sir

Even if that were just an equal-end slipjoint I'd still think it fantastic. Well done.

That beauty would have blown my budget also,a great find.

eisman, great find. Thank you very much for sharing.

I keep trying to find these older autos with no luck. BRL will not discuss them because they are illegal in CA.

yablanowitz, great show. I truly appreciate your promotion of wood carving with great examples and advice. I recall that you might also have a beautiful collection of vintage autos. It would be nice to see them, but it may not be appropriate in this thread. As always, I trust your judgement.

What's BRL?

Also, I'm pretty sure autos under 2" are legal in CA. What's the blade length on these guys, I wonder?
