I have a Millie with G!0 and 440v blade (3 screw clip). It is lighter and much narrower than the newer models. I was wondering what (if) Spyderco made this thinner lighter version in any other blade material besides 440v?

As far as I know the order went like this. Can anyone tell me which of these are the narrower /lighter model?:

440V with 2 screw clip
ATS-34 with 2 screw clip
ATS-34 with 3 screw clip
440V with 3 screw clip
S30V single liner
S30V Carbon fiber 400pc. Sprint Run
BG-42/CF 1500 pc. Sprint Run with second partial liner
S30V with second partial liner
CPM D2 Foliage Green 1200pc. Sprint Run
S90V/CF Sprint Run (never heard a number of pieces, probably 1200)
S30V/Digital Camo

I may be wrong but that may be the last iteration without "dual" nested liners which may speak too the light weight and thin profile. I seem to recall reading where dual nested liners came right after that knife.

Others will likley chime in.

Was the Orange G10 the most recent interation of the Military? I think I read it was 600 pieces, probably has the dual nested liners.

Everything past the CF/BG-42 had dual nested liners. Ones before it had single nested liners.

All Military models are the same thickness.

When did they switch the pivot design that was causing adjustment issues ?

Even though the pic may not look like there is much difference , but it is a world apart in how the old one feels. So much lighter and narrower.

So back to my original question. Which models are thinner?

The pivot wasn't causing issues, it was to correct lack tolorance in production knives. Using the eccentric pivot, the blade (and pivot) could be moved forward and back to adjust for liner lock wear. Not sure when they stopped.

colubrid: That's interesting. It does seem to be about 25% thinner on the scales.

Or is the edge bevel more angled on the older model? Anyone have a micrometer? The older model does look thinner to the naked eye for sure though

It actually feels a lot slimmer than it looks. I don't like carrying the newer Millies because they feel like tanks compared to the older one.

I want to get another so that is why i asked if this was only on the 440v 3 screw.

I wish spyderco would make a millie in H1 (yellow handle ande even slimmer),mmmm. Like the Salt series version of the Delica and Endura is slimmer and much lighter.

I would much rather have that than the new Ti Millie.

I agree with the OP here. I have two of these. One is the new one with the Orange G-10 scales. I have one that I got new way back. Its what is being referred to as the 440v with the 3 screw clip. When next to one another they are different in terms of thickness. I figured it was simply the evolution of the knife and never paid much attention.

Do you tend to reach for the thinner one more often? Fits great in th back pocket to. Just dissapears. I never like to carry the thicker Millies and they end up just sitting on the shelve.

I am thinking about switching out the S30v blade and switching it with the 440v. I prefer to have the s30v on the slimmer handle. What do you all think about that?

Mine measure as follows:
ATS-34/G-10 - 0.425"
440V/G-10 - 0.407"
S30V/CF - 0.449"
S30V/G-10 - 0.447"
BG-42/CF - 0.447"
CPM D-2/FG G-10 - 0.446"
S90V/CF - 0.449"

Thickness measured from the spine side at the midpoint of the backspacer. I don't have the digicam or orange models to measure.
