Every time I buy an Old Timer I come to this forum to find out as much information I can about it but I got one today and cant find anything about it any where.
It is 3 5/16" closed and has 2 blades, a clip blade and a sheepfoot. The clip blade is marked Schrade+ over u.s.a 93OT.
I live in Australia and found out 2 months ago about Schrade closing. I have had a 152OT sharpfinger and a 15OT deerslayer for a few years so I thought I'd better get a few more Schrades while I still can. The 93OT is the 17th one I have got in 2 months. Old timers here in Australia are not a cheap Knife and with them closing the prices are going to get even higher. Some of the post say how prices have gone mad on e-bay but they are cheap compared to here. Here is just a few examples of prices I have Paid. I have converted the prices to U.S Dollars.
8OT $94.80
77OT $72.70
LB7 $135.00
96OT $107.00

Hope someone can help me with the 93OT information. I got this one at a pawn broker. A bargain at $27.00 u.s.
Thanks Peter

Peter.. Glad you joined us here.

According to my excellent reference book by Robert Clemente, you have the 'Wrangler'. Brown sawcut delrin handles? The length listed is 3 9/16"

Dates of production: 1982-1993
First & last catalog price: $12.50-$24.95

"Nte 1: Appears to be a direct two blade OT version of the very popular 897UH.
Note 2: Direct two blade version of the three blade 98OT first appeared in te 1982 catalog, it was printed to have Schrade+steel blades (found on UH models), all the way up to the 1993 catalog, and not the current, normal High Carbon steel blades.
Note 3: In the 70s, there was a model numbered the 895, that may have been the predecessor of the 98OT, but no predecessor two blade version is in the catalogs; most two blades were the smaller patterns, or the squared off models like the 34OT."

Hope this helps. Excuse me now while I go put a dozen or so Schrades on Ebay, selling to Australia only!

Phil

Peter,

Welcome to the group.
Where in Austraila are you?

Unbelievable prices for those Schrades.

I had read that the knife laws in Austraila were extreme and that getting knives into the country was a huge deal.
Whats the real story from your side of the big pond?

An 8OT can still be gotten at Wall-Mart for under 25.00

Thanks for the info on the 93ot Phil. I have only ever seen a couple of Schrades on the Aussie e-bay ( ones which I already have ) and the prices are pretty low. There was a guthook skinner on there from some one in America and the bid that won it was only $39 u.s. Most of the shops I have been in said people dont want to pay the high prices for the Schrades so they will buy the cheaper Knives. Alot of shops just stopped stocking them.
Larry, I live in Brisbane, Queensland. The laws on carrying Knives is you are not to have any concealed blade or knife with you at any time. The police have the authority to search you and your car and if they find any knife they will take it from you. I'm not sure if you will get fined or not. I dont know about getting knives into Australia.
I will keep searching for Shrades wherever I go. I am hooked and cant get them out of my head. I'm lucky in my job I drive around all day so I keep looking for 2nd hand shops or any place that might sell Knives.

Peter,
Can you wear a knife on your belt, or clipped to your pants, in some type of sheath or pouch? How about around your neck? Just so it isn't CONCEALED.
What about hunters and workers?
Here in Arizona, for instance, you can't carry a concealed handgun without a Concealed Carry permit. But, you may wear/carry one OPENLY, with no permit at all. Thank goodness we don't have strict knife laws, except schools and Federal buildings.

Anyway, welcome here, and good hunting! (For Schrades, of course.) ;)

I have been considering a trip down under ( that dosen.t sound right ) I mean to Austrailia what are the custom laws on bring a couple of suit cases full ( frankly I could use the space in the house ). I know your gun laws are nuts. I have a frend over there who lives on fish and deer and a liquid animal called Tooheys ( wish I could find some here I my have to visit just to try some ). Any way he was telling me that they used to clean up the country side and would often leave free fire wood for him. Now he says you cannot even cut it for yourself. I also have seen the fires which natures starts when the wood is not cleared. You must have imported some American politicians yours sound just a balmy ( I believe that is the correct word. ) Any way Cheers Mate and welcome aboard . LT
